World of Warcraft - Blizzcon 2011

Scenarios seem a bit like rifts in Rift.

Challenge modes look like an extension of the Achievement system with mainly vanity rewards (although you can earn valor points through them as well).

World of Pokemon also confirmed :P

Pandas I could stand. This...this is just weird. Guess the appeal is there to the youngest players?

More like people who aren't in a raid team or in any kind of endgame PVP imo, or even something for those players when they aren't raiding / their team isn't online.

Summed up - just something to do if/when you aren't raiding / pvping.

The pet pvp sounds like something for people who enjoy pvping, but just cant follow the game GCD for GCD in pvp.

In fact i'd bet it would appeal more to the older players with the whole gameboy Pokemon nostalgia, but it just seems like more stuff to do.

4 spec druid... Not sure what to make of that. IT was nice to be able to switch with great effect between kitty and bear but again this does have its down sides.

Hunters can't hold melee weapons anymore, lolololo

makes sense as they will be removing minimum range for hunters so no more melee attacks needed.

Other nice changes were that rogues can also throw weapons now as well as warriors.

Shamans will no longer have buff totems.

Druids will have 4 specs with a new Guardian spec for tanking.

Each warlock spec will have its own resource mechanic

cant rem much more atm but the stream stream i linked will have the class part in 15 mins

Supposedly still some overlap between the kitty and bear specs so i imagine swapping from dps to tank (or vice versa) mid fight if needed will still be possible.

monk specs sound awesome, being able to tank/heal/dps all while being a melee class should be fun

Windwalker sounds like it will be great to have a healer who does competitive dps as well as competitive healing

meh is my response to the news.

For all that some of the stuff sounds fun/interesting it is another step on the dumbing down route from what I can gather.

Would like to see them update tbc/wrath zones as they did the vanilla ones in cata.

Will keep an eye out but MEH! is about as excited as I can get :p

I've always bought the expansions just to try the new races and PvE content. At the end of it though, I can't be bothered with the social aspect anymore so once i've done the new stuff I just end up cancelling and stopping playing for a while.

I don't know if i'll bother this time, it just seems like more of the same - and OMG, how many times have they overhauled talents now? I preferred it the way it was at launch.

It's about time they considered giving the whole game an overhaul now, maybe in the form of a brand new MMO - WoW 2?
