***World of Warcraft : Legion***

They are on track (only now) to bring expansion times down, but I think their yearly target will never be reached. They will go down to a single patch with each expansion I think (WoD supposedly had two, but we all know it was one patch!) allowing them more time to work the next expansion and get money selling boxes with the reduced sub numbers

i gave up with wow during Pandas. Is it worth going back?

Yes, BUT only for 1 month. You can do all the questing and LFR stuff and I think that would suffice - yes it is expensive to buy the expansion and 1 months sub, but I think the overall story of the expansion was good and ties up a bit that wasn't concluded in Pandaria.

I wouldn't say only for 1 month but depends how much fun you get out of it.

Yes and no.

Yes, it is still good fun, good community and can be a fantastic way to spend a few hours an evening.

No, Warlords is not a good game, Wrath was the games 'high point' this very much feels like a low point.

(I have played since release for reference)

I cancelled my WoW sub start of this year as I wasn't enjoying the grind, but I've no doubt this expansion may get me to re-sub.

As they say, no one ever quits WoW.....

I'd happily spend money on their store for character services and interesting mounts if they reduced the subscription fee or got rid of it entirely. As-is, I don't want to pay a dime for a month when I know I'll get bored in a week. Not everyone, but a lot of the 'old-time' veterans that started playing in vanilla (when we didn't have careers and children) must feel the same!

You think the playerbase will ever go above 7 million again? I doubt even Legion will bring people back in. Given the lack of content between now and expansion release the game will probably drop below 4.5 million before we see new content.

I'm not sure what was so good about Wrath, but expansions since just didn't hit the mark for me.

They need to change something big to bring me back, same old stuff in a new place isn't enough anymore.

It's a 10 year old game - not to defend some of the questionable changes that have been made, but you can't expect it to be gaining subs at this stage in it's life.
As I've said before, even the very youngest of vanilla players is now well into their 20s, and most are pushing their 30s. It's all very well saying the dumbing down has hurt the game (and I would agree it has, to an extent), but without that I think the game would be far less popular than it remains today. I for one couldn't commit the time necessary to enjoy it like I did back in TBC, not matter how much I miss it.

Legion looks like a solid expansion. There's a lot more features and changes here than WoD brought, and for the most part they looks like sensible additions to the game. I think it's fair to say we're definitely reaching Blizzard's end-game plan for WoW though.
