I currently have Vista on my PC, but a thinking of upgrading to Windows 7.

The Windows Update on my Vista keeps failing to work and upgrading to a X64 bit would free up some RAM too. :) There are a few other reasons why I want to upgrade to Windows 7, but those above are the main ones.

Would it be worth the £75 to upgrade?

Personally i think it is. It uses resources much better than Vista ever did and it just works.

Win7 is what vista should have been.

Big HELL YES from me

I couldn't agree more.

I recently upgraded my laptop from Vista x64 to Win 7 x64. While running Vista it had the annoying habit of just slowing down randomly for no obvious reason. Since the upgrade its just smooth.

I would have to say no even though i prefer windows 7 but it is not worth the money going to to 7 from vista , xp yes

If you use your PC a lot then yeah it's probably just about worth that. I wouldn't upgrade just based on Windows Update not working though.

£75 isn't a lot of money, so I would say it was worth it. As above, if you use it day in day out it is a no-brainer.

Isnt 30 quid for students only?

The student deal has always been on win7 pro UPGRADE edition. 100% useless for those with OEM xp who might change their hardware in the near future too :/

I've not seen Ultimate for £30 anywhere. That's less than the best student deals for Pro.

Yep, go for it.

Not worth it for £75 imo, 7 is great but its not miles from Vista. There's a few things I really miss from Vista actually, why they got rid of the sort columns in all views and the sidebar completely elude me :(.

Getting rid of the sort columns does make things look better, but I did also miss that when I first got W7. Quickly got used to the old right click > sort by name like I did in XP.

What's wrong with the current gadget system? You can easily have it in a sidebar layout if you want & it doesn't take over the entire right hand side of your monitor.
