WP8.1

There is nothing wrong at all with Facebook.
Spotify I don't use so no idea.
Google apps you should know aren't on there and for the most part aren't needed or better alternatives.

Nokia here maps, drive, transit. Metrotube etc. Are all fantastic apps.

Snapshot there are 3rd party apps for, but I don't use it. So could say how they compare.

However glance screen is amazing as are live tiles, no longer need to go into an app. And android not only did it look a mess without a huge effort, widgets generally take up a hell of a lot of space so multiple home screens, and even with that on, Bluetooth permantly on, streaming audible for many hours. Hasn't been charged for 38hrs08mins and still have 50% battery left.

The biggest issue with WP is a load of apps are copies. You're giving personal information to some random developer. I'll pass thanks.

I use YouTube every day as I have a YouTube channel. Gmail is the best email client (IMO). Google Maps is the best maps client. Most people (including me) do need Google apps.

I have used both G maps and Here maps on my N5 and would much rather use here maps.

Offline navigation is great, as are the spoken commands which are as good as a standalone satnav, Google is OK but quite often misses due to signal.

G+ would be the only App I would miss on WP if I switch, got a little over 2 months to decide.

So what your saying is... I can't change the default search?

In that case, how do I change they keyboard? Preferably to one that fills the whole screen?

Shame. I've always had custom keyboards on android. My current one is customisable in height and width.

Are live tile updates still limited to a maximum refresh time of 30 minutes unless they are the HTC clock tile? Or has 8.1 removed that?

As far as I know the 15minute rule was removed and is upto app developer and if you feel it updates to often you can launch battery saver up and remove the allowed to run in background.
Some apps also have live tile settings within the app.
