wtf

I changed that same switch on my pc once when i was around 7. I was looking around the back of the pc and i saw the numbers and i was like ;o high volt would make my pc more powerfully so i changed it and put the pc one abd bomb there some even some smoke XD.

Wow, this is pretty awesome.

Just be thankful the dying PSU didn't ignite the paint fumes. Now that would be one hell of a case mod.

What is the spec of your machine? We'd be happy to specify you a new PSU. Hopefully the PSU didn't take anything else out.

Wasnt my best idea, although had worse lol

The paint wasnt water based, so no problems there!

No filth for me tonight boys, meh!

Can take pics tomorrow, also some of the over spray on the desk and wall:D:D!!

in theory it should survive, due to most of the psu design for pc is Switch Mode Power Supply Unit type
they are normally clever enough to have the wrong voltage setting protection built in and should have reacted quick enough and shut down (high end psu)
but at the same time it depends on the make of psu it is and the type of protection it has built in,
you just gonna have to switch in on to find out;):p

dude spraying while its on...... classic

just get a new psu and the computer will be up and running again fine.

your existing psu is probably a load of crap anyways, psu with voltage selector switch on the back doesnt even have active power factor correction.

if you know what your doing (which i seriously doubt you do) then you can open up the psu and replace its internal fuse. since you set the input voltage to 110v the internal fuse would have blown since your feeding it 240v.

also every psu i encountered which has a selector switch for the voltage the switch is recessed and very small and needs to be set by sliding it, and usually fingers are too big to get to it (especially by accident) which is why i suspect this thread may be just a wind up.

Even though I don't believe it's real:

i flipped that switch once, on my mate's new mac tower. After a diy repair by his dad, switched it back on... blew the caps open! wrecked the whole machine... thank **** i didnt have to pay for it
