X-Com 2 - Announced

I've noticed that the animation bug seems to affect any of my soldiers who is in a building when it gets destroyed, after that they are bugged for the rest of the mission even if I move them out of the building, anyone noticed the same?

I was a bit sad when on one of the terror missions the game reported that the aliens had killed a civilian called "David Jones".

After that all the aliens fell to earth very quickly.:D

Just finished this on normal difficulty. I restarted about 2/3rds of the way through and put my early focus into getting to a 6 man squad asap, it made the timed missions much easier.

In the end I played for 50 hours in total so to say it was addictive would be a gross understatement ;)

You should play the original 1994 game.:D

It is very addictive and can take a lot longer than 50 hours to finish.:)

Assaulting an alien battleship was a major effort.

First you had to find the firepower to shoot it down and then it took ages to clear it out.

In practice, you only ever assaulted a Battleship that had landed. Because even with fusion ball launchers, you would lose a ton of interceptors trying to down it.

And Elerium was far too scarce to waste shooting down one of your biggest sources of Elerium :p A crashed Battleship might not have any intact generators.

A Battleship full of Etherials? My first "Nope" gaming moments :p

I never liked fusion ball launchers due to the low ammo and requirement to use aggressive stance or miss your last shots

Plasma beams on firestorms/avenger made short work of downing a battleship though :p

Yeah the fusion ball thing was a bug, really.

I never in any of my play-throughs used anything other than interceptors :p The elerium cost of the other craft always seemed to me too high to use them much. Was too busy making hovertanks and new flying suits, for when we, er, "misplaced" them during a mission :p

If only they'd just wipe the blood off and recycle the armour... :p

Well there was a bug where your fuel would never run out - I think maybe after first mission after ship transfer - so just keep them patrolling until the 100 plasma beam ammo runs out.

Not that I would abuse bugs ;)

So picked this up since it looked great and everyone loves it. Only played the original briefly before but couldn't get into it. Got to say its great, wish I'd stuck with the earlier games back in the day.
I am finding it a little tricky mind. Lost quite a few squad members and had to restart a couple of times 0.o

It does start off tricky. Try to make a bee-line for the upgrades that add extra members to your squad and also the armour upgrade. Not the nano-weave vest, or whatever it's called - it's a full armour upgrade. Things start to get a bit easier then.

Avenger plus plasma beam weapons would take down a battleship and there was normally at least 100 Elerium and a couple of cores left intact.

It was also great fun attacking them on the ground playing on the highest level against the Ethereals.:D

And people thought I was not a hardcore gamer.:)
