X-Com 2 - Announced

Just started a new game on commander difficulty and ironman mode .. Managed to get flawless on 2nd mission in but the 3rd mish I was doing well until a nearby explosion caused 3 out of the 4 soldiers panic .. One turned and fired on the only solider not panicked and killed him

Needless to say the aliens wiped the whole squad while I was still panicked and all I could do was watch them die :(

As a random point - if you have time ALWAYS hack the towers. There's generally one option that improves the current mission (e.g mind control a random alien - handy but pops conceal so use carefully) and one that give a more long term bonus (50% reduction in intel costs/blacksite location etc). I got used to ignoring them for a while but they DEFINITELY should be poked. If the chances look poor, hit escape and the turn isn't wasted.

Ah sorry, I meant gun turretts rather than towers, I usually hack the towers.
 
Ok I'm finding this to easy now. Last few missions have plasma and exo suits for everyone. Both my rangers have 20 & 22 dodge pce. Sniper has 15aim pcs as well as superior scope. Haven't been injured in several missions including a black ste.
Haven't been injured, and last mission found Andromeda(sp) so think I'm technically advance for where I am in game?

Just unlocked war suits, so that's next goal, buy 5 of them and 1 wraith fir sniper
And my psi trooper is about 10days away from going on a mission, almost fully trained.

It's annoying the first half dozen missions so hard, now to easy.

What's better WAR or EXO suits...? They look the same if I recall? Was late last night and I unlocked them both around same time.
 
You wouldn't unlock them around the same time. War is the more advanced exo suit.
Like plasma cannon is the more advance mag cannon.
 
Where's the cheapest place to get a key that will activate on Steam? Fancy this but can't justify the RRP.

Also, anyone playing with Steam controller - how is it? :)

Cdkeys.com is cheap I tried with steam controller and found it too slow and cumbersome
Used to play xcom one with Xbox troller .. Wish you could with this one
 
Yeah, game takes ages to play through anyway and steam controller just makes it even slower.

It was a nice idea, but the aiming system has barely changed and there is no reason they couldnt have kept Xbox controller support in as far as I'm concerned.

+1 hopefully they will add it in later especially if they decide to port it to consoles

War suits are upgraded exo suits. That should answer it :)

Price wise, I've generally found pre-ordering on CDkeys is the way forward. Picked this up for £20 with pre-order bonus (for what that was worth).
 
Anybody else greatly prefer the look of the earlier armor types? They seem to just get blander and more generic as things go on (I liked my initial band of rag-tag guerilla fighters :()

Hopefully modders can improve the variety somehow... not necessarily with just "more" armor types, but more variations on the existing ones; as if the soldiers have still tweaked and customised their particular suit a little bit - no reason they couldn't wrap strips of material around parts of their forearms or whatever just because it's "powered armor"...

The other thing I think would be sweet would be the ability to have the soldiers display a visible kill-count on their armor/weapon somewhere (which you could choose, as well as the type of mark used and the color) - it'd update after each mission

But then as the mysterious council spokesperson gets in touch and you start getting supplies from all over the World, you get a lot more technologically advanced.
 
Yeah the original armours look way better. Also regarding the WAR & EXO armours I slowed down on researchING armour type stuff once I got standard power armour. Hence why I unlocked them pretty much one after the other lol

That's of course the reason why the armor gets more high-tech as the game progresses, but that doesn't need to come with a mandate that all soldiers must give up any individuality... In some sense wouldn't you expect the more veteran soldiers to inject *more* personality into their armor, weapons etc. than the newer recruits? Battle damage? Little trophies/mementos? ("check out my sweet Muton-mask necklace!")... anything really to stop them looking so boring (and no... bright pink hair, goofy glasses and a bandana on every soldier don't cut it)
 
Ok finally starting to get on top of things, got enough intel to get the Avatar bar down to 10 and then 9 last night, there might be hope after all! It was looking like curtains for a while there.

Loving the game in general and still learning a lot. It’s a challenge managing everything. When I finally got the ambushes working properly they are a thing of beauty. Overall really enjoying the game, can’t seem to leave it, always want to do one more mission, at 1am with work in the morning…
 
No spoilers, obviously, but is it game over if the Avatar Project is completed?

I've managed to keep it to around 4-5 until now and have just started to see the Archons. Still no Chryssalid yet, though.
 
Yes, when the bar is full, countdown is starting, on commander lvl is 21days I think..and then game over. With 4-5 you will always have plenty of time to react for any kind of "disaster".
