X-Com 2 - Announced

Thinking about sending 1 guy on avatar missions using the stealth/evac tactic

Still prefer my method (though, this is now late game) - fast n heavy, most folks with a war suit+the big launcher. 4 turns from wheels down to roping out with very little alien resistance left standing :D

Campaign completed on Commander difficulty :) Must stay I am looking forward to XCOM 3 if my suspicions are true and based on the setting of the last mission on XCOM 2 and the final scene of the ending.

Was my 1st campaign started 2 weeks ago on release, having almost 45 hours into it!!

Ofc last battle whole world broke loose, especially when aliens took over control of my Reaper Ranger. But the day was saved last moment by the controlled Berserker I had. Hahahah

Finished it on rookie, game was still a challenge for me however it did start to get easier 'mid-game' when I had the armor and weapons research sorted but that last mission was still very hard but I do have some advise for the last bit ***SPOILER ALERT***

On the last bit where you have to kill 3 avatars don't bother trying to kill everything they will just keep coming try and attack only the avatars use mimic beacons and mind control for defensive purposes if the enemies build up fall back a bit (but keep them all separated) the avatars may teleport to your soldiers giving you a better chance of killing them, after all avatars are dead the game ends and you don't have to fight whats left

I'm also nearing the end of Commander Ironman... to be honest once you get out of the early game it just gets easier and easier, wish I'd started it on Legend instead (but I'll be doing a followup L/I run after this anyway :p)

Getting a bit bored now.
But pet gatekeepers are fun, have a 77% chance at dominating them.
My hacker also got a +20 permanent stat boost from a hack last night.

Just waiting for my war amour to be built, ordered 6 of them. Then I think i'll just do the black missions and go for final mission.

It is always the same with these games. Once you get past the early stages in a decent position, the rest is a walk in the park.

I see I still have to wake up aliens that are napping beyond my LOS.

And don't say they're 'roaming'. The pack I just discovered were standing right next to an NPC I need to rescue.

Had this happen in one game after killing reinforcements I thought that was it and took me about 3-4 turns walking around thinking game might be bugged I found a gatekeeper and 2 others on a roof!

Yeah, beam weapons, power armour, mimic beacons and 6 ranked up soldiers and it's quite an easy game to be honest.

There's a recommended list of mods for a "Legend+" difficulty, which add a lot more difficulty to the game especially in the later stages... pretty tempting (though I might not take all of them, some are just ridiculous sounding)

Just had a few games with a friend on MP

What a mess :(

I swear the games took 3 times as long as they shouldv'e because it was taking that long to load stuff :(

God, since the last hot fix my performance is awful. I have a pretty powerful system, [email protected] 16gb 2133 memory, gtx980ti overclocked and it's installed on a fast ssd drive but it runs like a dog! It's not just me, complaints all over the net but it's really affecting my enjoyment of this game. It ran fine before the hot fix.

I'm waiting until they patch all these issues up before going through on legend/ironman. Hopefully they don't take too long to get it optimised.

Finally finished my commander playthrough, although I was finding it earlier by the end that final mission was an absolute bitch. All you people talking about how to make Veteran harder need a slap. :)

The performance issues are related to just a few settings, if you drop the AA, SSAO, shadows to med & one other setting you pretty much double the FPS.

High to medium shadows is something stupid like 25% performance diff apparently - I'm running it fine @ 4k on my 980ti machine @ 1080p on my 970 machine with little problems.

The performance issues vary wildly depending on your config, it's not just down to settings. They still need to do a lot of work on optimisation, cutscenes are a slideshow for me since the last patch.

Running it on a laptop. Not even a fast one.
The cut scene pauses don't look performance issues to me, just bad programming. Things happening out of sync, pauses etc. A fair lot of missing actions.

It just looks very buggy but still totally playable. There's actually some modes which help.
