X-Factor 2011

Its clear the public don't like Kitty so its only a matter of time before she goes, I just hope Frankie goes soon as he can't sing to save his life.

Go Frankie!!!

:p

I'm loving the vitriol directed towards him and he just laps it up, along with all the ***** he can get through, during his 15 minutes.

What rubbish results tonight ! how on earth did Frankie not go?? he didn't even try last night and as for Johnny going he wasn't my favourite by far but I'd have 10 of him over that thing any day can't look at her face it just scares me :(

Didn't expect that at all. However not upset, we really didn't need another boy band, they were nothing new.

Johnny gone = a good thing. Frankie staying = bad.

Didn't Frankie say at the start of the show, "I've no intention of keeping going out there and making a fool of myself"?

Tomorrow, Frankie "I Quit!" Shocker?

I think that the judges have made some decent decisions this series - the public vote has been a bit baffling but the judges have made the right decision pretty much every time IMO.

I'm not keen on Kitty, I find her very nasal when she sings at normal volume so she tries to belt out any lines she can. But she was clearly better than Johnny, the judges made the right choice even though they were clearly all very fond of Johnny.

Don't understand how Frankie keeps getting through; anything I've seen written about him seems to be negative and I haven't seen anyone defending him... But he's clearly got some fans somewhere!

Yes, it's that quality to her voice which explains why she's not managed to progress in her career so far. Well, that and the faint hint of "person on the edge of a breakdown". You'd think the coaches would have helped her with the nasal thing, but I guess that at her age any bad habits are very well ingrained.

I did enjoy tonight's show though, which was a pleasant surprise. Florence on fine form (albeit with some typically unusual lyrics) and The Risk getting the elbow. That was unexpected, but welcome. The world does not need another boy band. Mind you, it never did need a boy band. :-)

As you said in your post, the voting in these popularity contests is always a little unpredictable, but this year does seem to be breaking new records. Still, it was great to be surprised myself, and -- even more so -- to see the judges' reactions. Priceless!

Later on (in among the usual the Xtra Factor drivel) Janet gave me a bit of a surprise too. She said she'd quite like to do a duet with Craig.... "he could do the high notes and I could do the low notes". It left me with the impression that she might be under the delusion that she can do the low stuff well, whereas our ears tell us quite the opposite.

If she believes that then -- as I suspected from the start -- she's really not ready for this yet. I still think she has the potential to be a great singer, able to move at least some of us. And that's a rare quality among X-Factor acts, or professional singers in general. But in five years' time she'll only be 21 and could be amazing by then... if she focuses on her initial audition and what made that such a moving performance. Less confidence suits her better. :-)

On to next week then. We still have Frankie to hate, but I have a horrible feeling he's being set up nicely for an underdog comeback. And Janet is definitely vulnerable now that all the other obvious weak performers are gone.

We will see though. Anything is possible when there are probably people out there voting ten times or more. I'd love to see a full breakdown of how many individuals vote, not just how many votes are cast.

If he is allowed to, the guy should immediately get himself a Manager and a band and he'll be on a nice little earner playing the smaller venues.
Both my daughters were going all googly eyes when he came on but then put their hands over their ears when he started singing.
He's certainly got sex appeal.

Good post, I agree with all of that.

As I've said already, I desperately want Janet to do well, but sadly I don't think she's ready. However given how the voting has gone this year... who knows.

never realised how clever xfactor really is tbh. frankie wouldve gone out in the first live shows but was saved by the judges. by the time he does go out everyone would be shouting " thank god for that! ", but its too late... everyone wouldve watched all the live shows already.

I refuse to watch any more and if my girlfriend insists on watching it, she's getting dumped.

That's exactly what the show's producers are thinking. Barlow is pushing Frankie very hard, so he's probably been told that this guy can sell records (or concert tickets)...take him as far into the show as you can.

Also, when a singer can sing badly, but can still get votes, this tells me that he has an "x factor" (ie. a quality that nobody can put a finger on).

The real question is though, would this guy be able to sell huge numbers of records or is he more like a Pete Doherty type of character?

As much as I hate Doherty, he had some from of talent. Frankie does not, he has a hairdo. Slags are falling over themselves for him because he is on tv, the second he is no longer the clunge will dry up.
