X-Factor 2011

Based on last night, Little Mix and Amelia should have gone through.

Gary outshone Marcus
Amelie held her own with Kelly... a bit shouty, but as Gary said last week, she does shouty well :p
Tulisa and Little Mix were good... Tulisa is hot - great legs!

Not surprised by the result. Of the two that's left I hope Little Mix win. Marcus is too cheesy and it would be nice to see a girl group win... But they should only be given a recording contract if they get rid of the annoying crybaby - she has such an unlikable face :D

Actually, they should do 1 more week of X-Factor where we get to vote out the worst Little Mix!

I didn't see Buble sing yesterday, but the first time he sang on XFactor, he looked like he was miming to me. He was moving the mic away from his face, but suspiciously the volume was constant.

But anyway...after more than a year...we shall never know the actual truth.

This is said everytime. It doesn't mean he mimes.

Ok. So are you saying that it is possible for a singer to move the mic away from his mouth, then back close again, while singing, without it effecting the volume level of the singer's voice?

Perhaps I am missing something.

I thought he was doing it for that exact reason; to control the volume level of his voice. Anyhow, I don't think he would be so obvious if he was actually miming.

No you're not because it's the first thing I noticed.
I gig every week and I have a very loud voice and there is no way on this planet could I hold a mic 2 foot away from my face and you would hear the same volume come out.
Yeah I do have to move the mic away sometimes but the furthest it goes away is about 9".
You will also notice that none of his band were mic'd up or plugged in.

I suggest you get your hands on the Michael Buble Christmas TV Special Concert he did where he opens with the same song and on that you will notice the mic only ever goes a few inches from his mouth.
Last night he was still singing while far away and no amount of compression would fix it.

Two pictures that confirm he was miming last night.
I captured these out of a video editing package where I could grab from the split second and here he is singing the very last word of the 6th line.

He wasn't miming.

He was 100%.
Go and watch his Christmas special and then watch his X-Factor performance and the difference in mic technique is enormous and as a singer you don't change your style when singing live from gig to gig.
There's one bit in the X-Factor performance where he sings 'So' and his mic is down by his side.
