X3:Terran Conflict has arrived

any idea why there are not Trading software mk3 in terran space or do I have to go ALL the way over to split space or argon space

Trading MK3 is a telardi invention and as such is only sold by the them. You can also buy it from the Terra corp hq (they must have done a deal with the telardi to supply the software in argon space.)

hey all, just downloaded this from steam. i have started as the terran, enjoying it so far, seems like a good winter game to while away the dark evenings.

I have a quick question, i have just been given a new ship an m5 i think am i best off using this and selling the old one or keep both ??

No point in keeping the m5 you m4 you start with is much better. Does it have weapons? if so keep them.

ship classes go like this.

m5 m4 m4+ m3 m3+ m6 m6m m7 m7m m2 m1 (there is a m8 as well but its a bomber and is only useful for taking out large tartgets from a distance)

its not allway exactly like this as some m3's are better than m3+'s but as a general rule its worth knowing.

later on in the Terran plot you will be given a wing of Terran m5's ( 3 iirc ), so tbh it doesn't really matter what you do with the first one your given.

They are all pretty useless. I even tried them out and they die to easily.

I wouldnt bother to much with fighter wings until you get larger ships that that can dock them and then only M3's are worth using.

Add 141 new random sectors

A new mod for all you people who thing the X3 universe is to small.

You always thought that the universe was a fix place and once you discovered it all, that was it, no more secrets, no more danger. You were right, until now! Use this MD-script and your universe will grow in time, adding new randomly generated sectors in random locations. Generated over time, some just empty unknown sectors, some Xenon. Who knows, your neighbourhood might not be as safe as you thought it was.

Quick question, what type of ships can dock with a TL?

Only fighters can dock inside a TL, its the same with all internal ship docks.

There is one exception to this and thats the Aran(M0) but you cant buy this you have to acquire it.

Hey,

I just started playing this last night and I have to say I'm a bit lost :)

Just picked terran to start and am following the missions from the start but how can I break out and find other missions to make money? Also it seems I can't buy anything :(

when you finish that patrol missions you will be given a m5 which you can sell for proffits (make sure you strip the ship of any weapons or shields before you sell it)

Cool thanks. I did this and went a bit further and got given a wing of m5's which were promptly sold as well.

I have got to the stage where I need to run a courier mission into a restricted area so I assume to continue I will need some sort of transport ship and the required items.

In the meantime if I am told one more time "my notoriety is too low" I am going to break something haha. Is it just case of running missions for the right faction to improve this?

Also (last question I promise) how do I get into trade runs being run for me? I tried to read up but it got really complicated quickly, not helped by the use of acroynyms such as MORTS?

Thanks for any help, I really want to like this game I just think I am getting held back by not understanding most things :)

Stu

Before you enter the system it is best to do the first mission of the final fury plot, this gives you access to the sector (you can start this by contacting the exterminator in omicron lyre).

there are 3 types of traders

1) factory trader

These buy and sell for your factories, set the home base of the ship to your factory and chose the buy or sell ware for best price command

2) sector \ universe trader

To start a sector trader you need to install "trade software MK3" avaliable from all good telardi equipment docs.

Once you have that installed you can start a sector trader from the trade menu. The transport will now auto trade, as the ship trades more it will increase in rank.

The trader will only trade in low level goods to begin with (EC's ect) so you want to place him in a sector with several spp's and lots of other stations.

when the trader is high enough level he will trade all goods and can also be setup to sector trade over multiple sectors or even be turned in to a universe trader.

3) CAG's

These guys can be setup to do trade runs and lots of other complex stuff. Best to wait until you fully understand the game before looking at them.

Is this a fan based mod, i mean a free expansion?

What versions of this game are avaiable, and which is the one to go for, also when it comes to controsl, do people keyboard and mouse it, or are you using flight joysticks?

Yes this is a free fan made expansion.

Game version....

X3:TC - Steam version
X3:TC - Retail, can be added to steam.
X3:Gold - contains TC and Reunion, Some say you cant add the copy of TC from this to steam.

All can be patched to the latest version that includes a nocd patch.

some people like KB and mouse i prefer joystick my self.

Could I ask for some hints and tips ?. I've just spent nearly 2 hours getting to grips with the games controls and interface only to lose everything because I bumped into a ship while in auto pilot. :(

I'm going to install the XTC mod as soon as it has downloaded too.

XTC is complete conversion mod none of the x3:TC plots or sectors will exist, I suggest you play vanilla TC as well as some of the plots are worth completing.

Auto pilot can be very bad at times, be very careful with it if you are in a fast very ship or a slow ship with poor turning.

If you dock at stations you can save the game, when you have a bit of cash to spare find some salvage insurance (with this you can save anytime)

Get a bigger ship that way when the auto pilot screws up its the other ship that goes boom not yours :D

Cheers for that Shadez. I noticed auto pilot was very erratic when following a ship, I think i'll just fly myself from now on using ctrl+f to speed match.

yes just fly your self if you are following (you can get the auto pilot to follow properly but its not easy), I only use the auto pilot to travel long distances with seti enabled.

If it gets close to a object seti will disengage giving you a chance for a emergency manoeuvre. It can still give some brown pants moments.

Need a wee bit of help here. I'm in the unknown sector following the pirate ship heading to the pirate base....

Personally i just go in guns blazzzing and wipe them out, not that hard if you have some combat skills. If you are lucky you can even force some to bail.

The xenon L's in the sector you start following the nova will bail easily a few hits into the hull and they will normally go blue claim those abandoned ships and make some easy proffits.

well bugger me ! I just downloaded a sector map ... forget about scratching the surface, i've not even touched it yet !, this game is gigantic.

Yup its big there are mods out there that make it even bigger. Get you self a jump drive ASAP will make travel around the universe much easier

Same here I have had the game ages and really need to put some time into it, One of my missions has stopped and can't continue cos I sodded off somewhere and can't find the ship I was supposed to scan :( but I have some money and ships so don't want to start again :(

Which mission might be able to help.

Can't you buy a big repair lazer for some ships and install it in a weapons slot?

Could maybe have a well shielded and energy stocked ship to jump in and repair you then jump back to safety?

Some one may of created a mod to do just that you would have to check.

at what stage should one buy a TL, as hirign them doesn't seem overly dear.

When you want to start doing build missions or when you want to start building complexes. You want a ship that can jump in drop its stations the jump out and grab some more.

Is there much difference between this and Reuinion? I have Reunion ATM and I'm trying to figure it out and it would be nice to know if I got another game to go after this one.

There are massive differences,

New ships and new ship classes.

New sectors and stations

Additional Factions and companies you can work for

Lots of new mission types

Lots of plots you can chose to follow

I seem to have messed up somewhat

Made my first complex, a bofu bogas production in kingsdoms end, hoping to make bofu to sell in the local area, but whoopsie, seems my selling ship, runs between the factory and the local trading hub selling 4 and 5 items at a time, with his cargobay full of the rest of the stuff, and not progrssing to other stations to sell larger quantities.

I see oddles of time that station might sit completely inactive, and not ever recovering its production costs.

Its possible that the trading station is the only station in range that wants bogas at the price you want to sell at.

Check the selling price and distance settings of the station.

Decrease the sell price and or increase the selling range and it should start to work. Remember to equip the selling ship with a jump drive and set it up to use it.

If you buy an equipment doc, or a trading station can you regulate what is sold from it, or do you just get to set prices in accordance with the standard sales items for that race.

Equipment doc and trading station, can be setup to buy sell any ware you want. (i think you must have at least 1 of the ware you want to use in your cargo hold in order to add it)

The only thing they cant sell is software.

Heh, I built a massive complex in the unknown sector previous mentioned and I am gettng rather few customers at the moment, any way to improve this?

What type of complex have you built? Some stuff just isnt popular

how long has it been there? I can take awhile for news to spread about your complex.

Are you selling to high? If its to high they wont buy.

Are all your customers having to pass through a Xenon sector to reach you?

things you can do:

1) drop the price, to attract customers.
2) wait, it could be that ships are on the way
3) eliminate the competition, then they have no choice but to come to you.

Its the start of a weed and booze complex copying exactly what VoG did on page 43 (Stealing ideas, but mainly as a tster for the concept)

Maybe it'll just take time.

I can eliminate the competition after lots of money is made to buy the m1 m2 fleet to do so :)

A m8 will flatten a station quicker than any M2 and at a fraction of the cost, it is even possible to do so without any rep loss.
