X3:Terran Conflict has arrived

wish it was like fable and made me money while I was logged out!

The closest you can come is to leave the game running, let those traders \ stations make proffits for you while you are away.

You can also set the game to run in the background so you can do other things while your proffits grow.

Just decided I wanted this on Steam - so picked up the currently 50% off Gold pack :). Guess i will start again in Terran Conflict! Going to play unmodded this time I think. Think I will aim to start off with a few universe traders. ANyone got good profitable stations to aim for first?

FAIL!

The upcomming 2.6 patch will allow you to add the DVD version of terran conflict to steam :D

As for profitable stations i always like space fuel.

Just checked and 2.6 was released last night, probably at the same time as the steam offer.

Get it now http://www.egosoft.com/download/x3tc/patches_en.php

Update 2.6 features the long-awaited New Home missions, which promises to be quite an adventure for those who like their THINK missions. This project has been developed by members of our own community and after a period of testing and evaluation is ready to be shared with the wider Terran Conflict-playing world.

Terran Conflict Update 2.6 also brings the introduction of Steam Achievements. We have been working with our partners at Valve and Steam to bring the achievement system to Terran Conflict and once again members of our own DevNet Community have been instrumental in their development and testing. Those of you who don't play the game through Steam need not worry about being left out. With Update 2.6, we are pleased to announce that all users with a valid registration key for the DVD version of X3: Terran Conflict will be able to register with Steam and download that version of the game FOR FREE! You too will then be able to enjoy the benefits of Steam gaming, including Achievements.

One other feature that our work with STEAM has made possible will soon be available to players of that version. Although it hasn't been possible to include it in this Update, we are pleased to announce that in a coming update STEAM players will be able to choose a Dead-is-Dead gamestart, which takes advantage of STEAM technology. Keep an eye out for that!

Concurrent with the release of Update 2.6 is the long-awaited arrival of the X3: Terran Conflict Bonus Pack. This favourite fixture of previous X titles will offer some of your favourite script plugins, developed by members of the community and which have also undergone rigorous testing and our robust 'script signing process'. Among the more popular scripts to be made available in the Bonus Pack are the Commercial Agent and the Commodity Logistics Software.

Update 2.6 not only introduces new features. As is the norm, a lot of work has gone into addressing some of the issues that have been brought to our attention, such as issues with sector traders, the missing wares for sale at the Goner Temple, weapon information displays for ships with only missile turrets and also some missions have been tweaked. We have also made some improvements to graphics rendering which should give an increase in game performance.

Version 2.6 also features:

* Improved rendering performance
* Improved chances of the pirate variation in the Freight Scan mission
* Fixed targeting issues with stations after a complex was destroyed
* Fixed several issues with the Freight Scan mission
* Fixed captured ships from Assassination missions being removed
* Fixed missing difficulty levels with the Destroy Convoy mission
* Fixed mission dialogs on ships starting on the wrong option
* Fixed several minor mission issues
* Fixed weapon information display for ships with only missile turrets
* Fixed missing wares for sale on the Goner Temple
* Fixed Sector Traders constantly buying at average price
* Fixed several text issues with German text files

Dead-is-Dead gamestart, which takes advantage of STEAM technology? What does that mean?

Dead-is-Dead is what all the hardcore X3 players do these days, if you die for what ever reason thats it you have to start again.

It probably makes use of the steam cloud to store your save game, so you cant reload if you die.

Started as a merchant dealing ore and energy cells in the Ore Belt. Saving up to about 1 mil and will then start a sector/universe trader. Anyone got any tips here???

Sounds like a reasonable plan.

I tend to turn to piracy at the start of a game in order to get my starting capital. Then set up a couple of UT's to keep my proffits ticking over while i fly around doing missions.

As for where to start st's you need a system with lots of stations and some spp's. Sectors like Empire's Edge, Queen's Space and Power Circle are considered good places to train.

I think it is included.

What is a good starting factory (nowhere near that yet though!)?

Like i said space fuel, buy the factory in omicron lyre and put it heritics end. There should be plenty of wheat and ec's to keep it running. As you make more proffitsssss you can add wheat farm to it. Then just keep adding and adding and adding you will always be sold out.

my current game as a space fuel mega plex in that sector with about 8 space fuel distilleries (L).

It's nice to see a new patch but the bonus pack feels a bit light tbh, can't see anything new in there either, im also unsure if it's included with the update or separate on the steam version?

No the bonus pack is not included you need to install it seperatly

Hmm well that's a bit lame, i don't really see why it need be optional anyway, they should just go ahead and make it part of the patch next time, anyway im starting to think it might be worth modifying the game if there's anything good about, not played in ages because i was running out of fun things to do, so is there anything worth getting to improve the game?

Load and loads best thing to do is look through the mods list and pick the ones you like the sound of.

Hmm, need to install the bonus pack then. The CAG script is excellent and should mean I can go unmodified this time.

With factories, do you always buy 1 above the average price and sell 1 below? That always seemed to work well for me in the past.

depends if you want people to come to you then set the price 1 below if you are selling yourself then set the price high to make more proffittsssss. As for buying set the price based on the avaliablility.

How is this game, any good?

The game is very good, if you like sand box space simulator\trading games.

The only thing that puts people off the game is the very steep learning curve you need to get past as a new player.

Is X3-TC much different to X2 (other than no cockpits)?

Since I have had X2 since release, and transferred saves across 3 PC's. Although the sectors seem smaller with faster PC's - although could be the higher resolutions.

Lots of differences, but the fundamentals of the game are the same.

  • better graphics
  • larger sectors
  • new race
  • lots of new ships
  • new ship classes
  • new weapons
  • lots more sectors
  • new mission system
  • complex creation
  • lots more i cant think of atm

You know with a universe trader will it only go to sectors with satellites in them or known sectors? Or does it branch out and explore unknown sectors looking for a good bargain? :)

I dont think you need a satellite. A UT should check all mapped stations, it will never go to unmapped sectors.

Hey guys. I just purchased a copy of this via steam. Some newbie advice would be much appreciated to get me started.

15 minutes untill it finishes downloading. :p

best advice would be to read all the guides and helps you can find on the egosoft forums.

Sooo what do you actually do in this game, started one of the scenarios and it just left you with no missions after the flight training and so quit and went to the first one and got my but kicked while on the patrolling missions...

You do what ever you feel like...

Want to be a pirate head off and start attacking other ship.

Want to be a trader start buying low and selling high.

Want to be a mercenary head off and look for station defence or patrol missions

the choice is yours.

There are lots of missions offered throughout the galaxy just look for symbols next to stations or ships, if it has one then comm it and talk to the person offering the mission. There are several plots you can chose to do, these start with a book symbol.

The reason you got your but kicked is because you either took on more than you can handle in the ship you own(or you just suck at combat :D).

Several combat tips;

These tips are mainly for joystick as i dont use KB and Mouse

1) get some fight software (avaliable from all good equipment dock) this may be installed already.

Click "k" to chose aim modes

Normal - no aim or lead indicator
Semi Auto - adds a lead indicator
Auto - Auto points the guns at the lead indicator if its in range

2) fly in spirals while using your strafe drive, depending on the weapon the AI wont be able to hit you.

3) if out numbered fly close to stations \ asteroids this will keep the AI at a distance, allowing you to pick them off 1 at a time.

4) Learn the RSLAG technique if your ship is faster than the enemy then this can save your life.

sorry ive been away the last few days, but im back and ready to answer \ correct the questions that have been asked.

raising race ranks,

You can do this by taking out there enemies, ie pirates kaahk xenon. In one of the race sectors

Some races also hate other races, so you will gain ranks by killing ships belonging to these races as well

Paranid <-> Argon
Split <-> Boron

You will also gain rank by completing missions for a race.

And i'm stuck! I've just been flying around, docking, looking at prices and bits to buy. What else am I mean't to be doing? How do I find out where sells low and buys high?

As said you need the traiding system extention. failing that just look at the station and it will show you a stock level if its full then buy if its low then sell simples.

Ok quick help meh!!!!

Do I buy myself a terran m3 cutlass or do i go the extra and buy myself a terran katana m6?

Or work up my relations with other races and buy one of thier m3's or m6's?

terran weapons as hard to get hold of and dont have the variaty of the commonwealth i would save up and get your self a nova raider its a very good all-round M3

Annother option is to do nothing the terrans will give you a M3 and a M6 as part of the plot, save your profffits and save up for a M7 you will need one.

well my ultimate goal is to build a massive fleet and capture a sector/wipe out a race :D

would be nice to capture earth but the lack of jump gates is annoying.

if i did take a sector/group of sectors which belonged to a race/pirates/xenon would they keep re spawning there?

You will find its almost impossible to take earth the torus defence system will blow you ships out of the sky.

yes they will keep re-spawning.

Oh and to whoever it was that asked there is a playable demo for Reunion it will give you a feel for the learning curve in the game.

Giving this game another bash, starting off as a trader and planning to go combat as soon as I can get a decent ship. Currently trading energy and sometimes ore in the sector called Ore Belt.

Out of all my previous tries at getting into this game I just give up because it takes too long to make money, I'm currently at about 300k credits and the boredom is killing me as I try to get more. Any tips for quick credits?

Best way to make proffits quick is to do combat missions, it starts low but you will soon be getting millions per mission.

I want something quick and with enough fire-power to blast a ho0le in god :D

Then you want the,

Terran Springblossom (M6) its got a top speed of 360.

Best way to make profits is to go here and read the thread http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=263657. Beats the initial grind anyway (which I have done too many times now!).

I along with allot of other people consider using that exploit cheating. ;) you might as well just script your self several billion. you will get the same sense of achievement.

If you know what you are doing you can easily get passed that inital grind without resulting to this and it will take you about the same amount of time.

I managed to complete the poisoned paranid plot and got my hyperion with in 12 hours.

need some good missiles for my m6, currently using wasps in huge numbers to take out faster fighters.

Awesome thing, a heavy centar with no shields and about 85% hull can be rammed into oblivion att he cost of about 30% shield power :D

well the skiron can mount the following

Aurora - rubbish area effect missile
Banshee - nice missile very good at taking out slow m4's and m3's(not buyable)
Beluga - similar to banshee(not buyable)
Cyclone - never used
Disruptor - (not buyable)
Dragonfly - good anti fighter missile
Fire-storm - anti capital / station
Firefly - crap
Firelance - crap
Hammerhead - anti capital / station (not buyable)
Hornet - good against slow m4's / M3's
Hurricane - crap
Mosquito - not much use against anything bigger than a m5
Rapier - same as mosquito
Remote Guided Warhead - good alround missile
Silkworm - m4 / m3 killer
Tempest - see hornet
Thunderbolt - see hornet
Tornado - useless
Typhoon - m3 / m6 swam missile
Wasp - m5 / m4 swam missile
Wildfire - nice anti m4 / m3 missile (not buyable)
Windstalker - rubbish

If you think the skiron is good then you should try one of these.

http://x3t.roguey.co.uk/ships/get_ship.php?id=290

its better on all counts and can even dock 2 fighters . you can even get overtuned versions with speeds upto 230.

There is only 2 ways you can get one, capture them or complete a special plot that comes with the poisoned paranid start.

Or if you are a speed junkie, get your hands on the fastest M6 in the universe

http://x3t.roguey.co.uk/ships/get_ship.php?id=219

it can even mount flak like starburt shockwave cannon and the deadly matter - antimatter projector, thats m7 class weaponry in a m6. :D

You can only get them from the aladran shipyards, which you will get access to once you complete the first terran plot.

geez you can't turn your back in this game can you. i mined a load of silicon etc, which took a fair old while, then sent my freighters off to the customer to sell up, & by the time they arrived in the customers sector it had been utterly annihilated, the place is littered with station & ship debris. i don't know who did what to whom but they did one hell of a thorough job as all life has ceased in Presidents end ( an Argon sector ). i'm now stuck with 2 freighters full of ore & in dire need of a new customer :p

You must be playing reunion, not TC. Presidents End is wiped out by the kaahk as part of the plot. If i remember correctly you even get a cut scene telling you about it.

Just checked presidents end and there are no stations in there, probably never been either.

There are destroyed stations in that sector.
