July Update:

Welcome to the July Update for X32I Redemption, in this update we will be taking a look at a couple of work in progress 3D models, the UEA Turret Rail Gun, and one of the UEA shuttle designs.

Also in this update is the brand new teaser for X32I Redemption which contains custom composed music from Gareth Coker.

The team has grown in size greatly since I started the project on my own, from a 1 man team to a team now in the 20's.

Teaser Trailer:

Let's see if this one works.

A little Info about the Teaser:

TheMightySpud created both Logo videos, as well as the broken player ship model. Richard Jeferies created the original models.

The teaser takes place at the start of the game, first showing the players ship David Greenhall destroyed after what appears to have been a massive battle, and now with heavy cruisers floating now as debris.

Screenshots:

Here are a couple of screenshots from the same level the Teaser video was created from which where previously used as a teaser... for the teaser :p.

Anyway's this is still early work, but for early work with no funding and in our freetime we're doing pretty damn good.

So you're working on two big mod/game projects?

X32I is my side project, which consists of Me,Richard Jeferies who did the 3D non textured models, and Gareth who does the music (Music Composer from LukeWarm Media).

While LightSpire is being produced by LukeWarm Media which I'm a part of which isn't a MOD and will never be freely released, while X32I will.

Cool, cheers for the clarification.

If it's going to be in the vein of X-Wing/Tachyon/Starlancer (or whichever one it was), I look forward to it's release, the market has been distinctly quiet on space sims for a few years now...

Given how it's based on the Cryengine, what are the requirements looking like so far? (There's been very little released outside the Crysis games so hard to judge overall engine performance)

Well it runs on max settings at 1920x1080 at about 80-90FPS on my system. So basically 3x faster than Crysis :P. Space has it's advantages of being empty ;). Granted my system is top of the end, but this will be optimised greatly to run on a large variety of PC's.

Fair play, if performance is good without making space 'empty' then that sounds decent.

If you make it too empty, then it can become boring! I'm sure plenty of people on here would be willing to beta if you need them.

Yeah but in Crysis it was the terrain and vegetation which made it perform so bad.

I stuck 10000 asteroids in and the performance was still higher than Crysis.

Yes this requires Crysis to run, and it's too early for any testers yet :p. Only started on this last week so gots lots to do before then.

Haha that video could almost be part of the trailer too...

I can hear it now

"It is the year 3200; Under the United Earth Alliance, Humankind has left the dying planet that gave birth to us; after centures of decadence and decay, the planet itself now nothing more than a nostalgic namesake; toxic and barren. Earth...

Humanity believed that the stars would be a haven from the failures of the past, an attempt to start anew, and the race to reach the stars was truly rekindled, abandoned since the early decades of the 22nd Century.

However space was not the kind place humanity had once believed, older races than humanity stood unimpressed with our attempts to expand and mature, forcing our species to grow and adapt, taking technologies and resources where it can.

The year is 3200, welcome to the UEA Navy, pilot."

Hehe, could be good fun :)

This could be seriously good. It's a sadly neglected genre so it's good to see some new work. Good luck with the project...can't wait.

Any chance of getting some Trackir support in this? :D

Hey that was pretty decent, did you just write that up yourself? ¬¬ Not quite the story which X32I is based apon but still some pretty good writing.

Yes it's a neglected genre and exactly why I've been wanting to start this for some time.

If I manage to get C++ coders I'll take a look :p, but no promises.

Yep I did, glad you liked it. (Can you tell I'm bored at work today?)

No idea what your story is bar picking up on United Earth Alliance and 32 from your trailers and name title so I improvised :D
