Is there anyway to make a capital ship fire at maximum range while stopped? I'm using the Odysseus with triple L plasma and its able to attack the wharf in the sector I've taken over without being hit but its taking time so I was wondering whether I could add a few more in and get them stopped so they don't go closer than 7km as they will then be got by the stations defences.

I don't think so, frustrating really as my rattlesnakes easily have range yet decide to go in close, which means for certain stations I have to fly them manually.

Yeah it sucks; If I could keep them at max range then odysseus' would rule.

Another question, how can I STOP the xenon from randomly placing stations within a sector that I have an admin centre. I took Scale Plate Green VII from the xenon and destroyed everything in and built an admin centre; despite all this the system is still red and won't turn green and they still keep attempting to build stations... The other sector I took from the xenon worked fine and they didn't do this!

Hmmm, is it one of those duplex systems? You might need to take both if so I'm not sure though.
 
Yeah it is, the other was a duplex and that worked ok, maybe this is a xenon HQ and so is different? The sector played a major role in the Xenon invasion so perhaps its not able to be taken over??

Really not sure sorry, only other thing I can suggest is that there may be a defence platform off the edge of the map somewhere.
 
Yup there was, cheeky defence station right at the max height of the sector; had to fly really high up and then use scan mode to find it! Now the sector is green and the Xenon have stopped trying to make new factories! Final push on Scale Plate Green I and I've got a good 3 sector anchor!
 
No, I need the ones for the Paranid questline, the Mitonene (i.e. 'very rare'). I somehow had 3 already, probably from a lockbox. I need 6 more which is possibly just one more crystal.

This game amuses me sometimes. I have 33 billion in cash, 8 half billion shipyards with several more on the way. Somehow I'm only an 'Advanced Mogul' which I believe is several ranks on an exponential scale away from 'Xtreme trader'. I'm shooting for achievements now and then one more play through to get the remaining alternate storylines. That's the plan anyway.

Edit: NW Faulty Logic I - found my crystals in minutes. I'll remember that sector. Loads and loads of them.

All Xenon systems have plenty of rare crystals :P
 
Okay guys what sector is best for setting up shop if you're not doing the main quest?

I don't think there is a definite answer for that, as I think the game randomly determines the asteroid belts and what systems have what minerals.

So for example, in my game I setup in family Zhin, because in my game that system had every single raw mineral except ice, which you don't need necessarily, and ice is next door anyway.

That way I could block each gate and setup being 100% self sufficient in my single system.

However, that was just at my goal, if you wanted to trade for example to make more money you'd be better off around that superhighway ring, and near to shipyards and wharfs.

If you wanted something out of the way then go on one of the edges, it's really up to you, depending on what your goal is.
 
All Xenon systems have plenty of rare crystals :p

It’s a good sector because HOP soon push the Xenon out of there. It’s pretty easy to evade the Xenon too in a fast light ship. I’ll be heading to one of those sectors in my next game start. I just need 7 sedatives now - you can get them in HAT free ports and the SCA base, but there aren’t many. Not helped my one of the HAT free ports getting blown up and not spawning again.
 
Ohh I found a nice trick.

If you have several destroyers and want to attack a sation, but dont want the AI to fly them as they get to close to the station.

Just fly each one into range of its plasma turrets, teleport to the next, rince and repeat. OK, the main battery guns wont fire, but the plasma turrets will, that way you can have multiple destroyers attacking a station without risk.

I need some help, I've been doing the build defence stations succesfully and managed to do 2\3 without any problems. I now have four defense stations which are completed but the mission won't complete. I have checked the plot sizes and that I have correct amount of turrets and strorage size required. Any ideas?

Only thing I can suggest is double and triple check the requirements. I had one catch me out for a while because I'd built solid storage instead of container or visa versa.

I am having exactly the same problem. It seems bugged as heck. I’m going to post on the official board. Like you, I’ve met the requirements stated and it worked for the first few.

Did you add a racial Admin module or not? All contract defense stations require one and cannot use Teladi Admin if the contract is for Split for example.

Nice, that's the one that the Duke's ships often use. They have a pink variant too if you fancy :p

Is it just missions that give you those custom paint jobs?

Also another tip of the day. Your NPC ships only repair to either 80% or 90%, to save an expensive repair bill particularly on capital ships, just teleport to that ship and sit in the pilot seat for a minute or two whilst your repair crew take it back up to 100%.
