X4 Foundations

Now I've had a bit of practice, one half of my station complex looks really neat and uniform. The other half looks like someone has a bad game a tetris ;)

Also got a SETA drive now. I need to turn that thing off and start playing the game again.

Ody Sentinel with PAR L Plasma with modified (upgraded) weapons. One of these can take down any station solo from range without engaging station weapons or support fleet, except XEN shipyards is enough.

RAttlesnake will do this also, the destroyer battery weapons can shoot from a looooooooooooong way away, normally you can also get in range of your plasma turrets without taking fire also, which gives you extra DPS. Leave the M turrets for any pesky fighters that go for you. Provided you keep an eye out for any hostile capitral ships, I have managed to solo any station so far like you say, without taking fire.

I am also going to try and retrofit my Raptors with Asp Raider fighters, I have been using plasma guns on the fighters and using them as bombers, but I think this is where the boson lance will come into its element. In theory, if the AI pilots are smart, they will just fire it once on the approach, then peel off whilst the weapon reloads, it is how they act with the plamsa guns. The range on these things is insane and the projectile speed is much faster. I'll let you know how it goes.

Random tip:

If you turn off the trade filter in the map mode completely (unless you need to use it of course) it'll quite dramatically improve FPS, at least it did on mine.

I was running the map permanently with the trades showing and I guess as I have most of the systems sat spammed it was slowing my system down a lot.

The map in general kills your FPS, but yes, a good tip.

@Panos or anyone else who has done the Paranid/Duke's storyline. I am at the point where I either place charges and blow the station or choose to just leave. What is the outcome of both of these? One unites the Paranid and one introduces a new faction? Which method results in which?

If you place charges then you work to create a third Paranid faction based on Duke. If you instead leave then Duke forces die out and you work towards creating a single unified paranoid faction. The unified Paranid will be at peace with the major factions and work tirelessly to obliterate Xenon near them. The third Paranid faction will duke it out in Pious Mists between HOP and PAR which will also focus more on each other. Creating a unified Paranid will require the construction of a huge station in Pious Mists. Creating a third Paranid faction will take over Nopelio's Fortune and use that cluster as their home until they conquer some space.

Haven't touched that campaign yet. I will do on my Paranid run :D

Not sure if its intended but found a way to get autotraders/miners easily... all you need is 1 single 3* pilot, set the ship to autotrade, dock it and transfer the pilot to another ship... the previous ship keeps its autotrader status and goes about its merry way. You can apply this to miners too by changing the 3* pilots role... however if you change the new pilots role from auto function you can't go back... obviously crap if you lose the 3* pilot so you could always keep them in a small ship docked at a heavily armed station, like I do, as I can't level to 3* very fast and I don't have any 3* seminars!

I've never bothered with it either or achievements. Going to do what I can with my current game and will then do the other Split start.

All I need now are 3 star pilots.

I'm thinking about starting a new game. I was heavily onto X3AP with Litcubes mod so I'm guessing this will be a breeze.

Should I get the expansion before starting?
