X800 GTO2 Thread, post your mods and clocks here.

sry to butt in on the thread, locutus12 do you know if i should be able to flash the bios on my 6800nu from cd ?, if i can , any chance you can point me to some instructions :D thx

nice work by the way :D

as far as i new, you shouldt have to flash anything with a 6800NU, if your looking to unlock pipes, use riva tuner, i wrote a guide with screen shots if you want it ?

ah i c, as far as i am aware you can only up the voltage by modifying the actual circuit design, some have had success with doing this but in my opion there is a point at which insanity comes in and the words "flogging a dead horse" start ringin in my ears and its usually when people start talking about modding the circuit. its dangerous and again in my opinion, not to healthy for the board and your system. if something goes wrong and you pull too much current, by by motherboard... :( plus its not exactly a brilliant sales point when you come to get wrid of it :)

when i had a 6800NU i couldnt modify the pipes either :( they unlocked but i got a green tint on textures :( the extra vertex shader unlocked at least. i hear tall story of people getting 4400+ marks on 3d05 with a 6800NU overclocked, but usually only when texturing and any filters are set to performance which isnt a real test :(

my advice, if you havent got a PCI-E set up yet, save for one because there really are some damn good cards coming for it now

I don't know what happens to me but that shurely doesn't.

With me i just happen to loose image @ a determined time. When, i suppose, the card gets to its max values.

Then im forced to reboot to recover.

I find this rather odd since ATItool doesnt perform like it should ought do.

That is rather strange since what would be to expect was precisely what fly_high says.

Anyone has a suggestion?

I've already flashed it. With no prob. I do not have any issues with that. Running great with 16 pipelines. I've said that at a previous post...

What i was now asking was, since it seems to max out @ 510, what could happen if i flashed it with Crucial XT850 bios. Just to try and see if it could find stability with +10mhz, running therefore at 520.

I ask this because i never previously heard about a similar situation and a doubt arrises me if it wouldnt damage the card permanently.

Use the Atitool 0.25 beta 8, that is on the techpowerup site, and instead of discover what is the max core and memory, put the values yourself, and run "scan for artifacts for at least 1H30, if there's any problems try to low 5 points on the core and test it again, if the prob persiste, low 5 points on the memory, and so on until you find the best perfrmance on the GC like i did.

I started at 540/590 and my best value was 530/570.

I think the x850xt PE was 540/590 so i started there.

Not been around here long, thought I'd post to help people decide whether to get this card or not. Recieved my GTO2 a few days back and here's my results so far.

Running a 3500+ Winchester & 2 x 512mb sticks of PC2100 (single channel)

X800 GTO2 @ Stock speeds, 12 pipes and Stock cooling
3DMark01: 19185
3DMark03: 9285
3DMark05: 4438

X800 GTO2 @ Stock speeds, 16 pipes and Stock cooling
3DMark01: 19684
3DMark03: 10163
3DMark05: 4987

X800 GTO2 @ 520/540, 16 pipes and Stock cooling
3DMark01: 20292
3DMark03: 11743
3DMark05: 5984
Max temp recorded: 62c

X800 GTO2 @ 555/612, 16 pipes and Artic cooling
3DMark01: 20565
3DMark03: Didn't test
3DMark05: Didn't test
Max temp recorded: 56c

X800 GTO2 @ 564/630, 16 pipes and Artic cooling
3DMark01: Didn't test
3DMark03: 12763
3DMark05: 6600
Max temp recorded: 59c

Pretty happy with 6600 and could probably get a little more with some decent memory(?).

Can get the core upto 589 or the memory up to 645 before I get any artifacts. Currently running them at 550/600 - no point in having them operating near their limit for the sake of a few fps. At these speeds the card idles at 32c and under load at 50c.

Saw an X850 XT PE in my local computer shop yesterday for £319.85. Had myself a good smirk ;)

Any questions - fire away.

However that dind't work also.

Thanks anyway. But the "strange" behaviour remains the same.

And then, seeing guys to do 564/630 isn't very cheerfull.

:(

:p

Of course screen saver was already disabled!

Even if it doesnt look i shurely know more than the basics!

I'm really tempted in trying to dump in her Crucial X850 bios... What tool should i use? Flashrom from techpowerup or atitflash? If it doesn't work... Oh well, new card... If it does, but the clocks remain crap, of to an auction she goes.

Im frustrated by the luck that i had to be the proud owner of a crappy overclocker X800GTO2.

I've been reading (intensively may i say) personal opinions from users who bought one and it seems that it is quite rare, however it happens, that some models, like mine, were just leftovers from the R480 that didn't cut, and don't, to higher speeds.

:( :( :(

Mine arrived today, boxed - not jiffied, and within 30 seconds of it's arrival it was modded, boots up fine with 16 pipes. At work now, but will overclock this bad boy eitehr on my lunch break or tonight after work :D

Just installed the X800GTO2. First time upgrading a video card. Very nervous. So far, touches wood, everything has gone fine. This is great because I was sure that something was going to go wrong and was very pleased when windows started.

Results without modding so far. Will try and switch to 16 pipes after I'ved had lunch and got my breath back. OC when I'm feeling brave. I had a X300SE in there before so quite a big difference:

3DMark05 - 824
3DMark03 - 1840
---------------
3DMark05 - 4098
3DMark03 - 8586

Oh I used Driver Cleaner Pro to uninstall the old ATI drivers. Very easy to use.

After seeing everone else do this i finally got arround to modding my X800GTO2.
Cool it worked without any problems. :-)
On my Athlon 64 3000 with the X800GTO2 running at 550 core & 570 mem & 16 pipes enabled i get a 3dmark05 score of 5855. This seems pretty good from what i can tell, so i must say i am very happy, ecstatic, actually with this card. :-

X800GTO2 (12 pipes) at default 400/490
8686 3DMark03
4098 3DMark05
---------------
X800GTO2 (16 pipes) at default 400/490
10393 3DMark03
4924 3DMark05
---------------
X800GTO2 (16 pipes) oc to 520core/540mem
11966 3DMark03
5709 3DMark05
---------------

So pretty good. It would have gone a lot higher. I stopped it at 546 core and 562 mem and brought it back to 520/540. I get the feeling it would have gone much further but I'm happy for now!
