X800 GTO2 Thread, post your mods and clocks here.

Finally had a go at overclocking mine. Looks stable 500 core and 600 memory. Really happy with this :D

How do I get my ATITool profile to run as default?

X800 GTO2 @ 530/610, 16 pipes stock cooling
AMD 4400+ x 2 (229) 2519 Mhz
2GB Corsair 3500LL 2 3 2 6
3DMark05: 6545

Purchased a Zalman Cu with the GT02 so will give it a week or so and fit it and try again.

Hiya.

Anyone tried finding the core and memory speeds by using the TRIXX software?
There's a couple of option on it when I did it, one to find "performance" settings, and the other for "extreme" +(there is quiet and other stuff too, but not really that interested in those just yet).

The performance clocks that are calculated are based on the fan running at 54% speed. I think it calculated something like 440 VPU and 470 Memory for me based on that. Not 100% sure though, I'll have to see what I have writted down at home and report back tonight to be sure. Temperature stays around 64C after gaming on this setting.

The extreme clocks use the fan running at 100%. I got were about 470 VPU and 500ish Memory. Which seems a bit poor compared to what folks on here are getting. Though, again, the temperature stays in the mid sixtees during a multiplayer round of F.E.A.R.

Now, I'm guessing that with ATI tool or something, I'd get higher speeds. But, will it be safe to do so, if the TRIXX reports are based on the fan speeds and temperatures etc. Will the ATI tool scores just focus on what can be performed without artifacts, regardless of temperature?

the temperature will be safe at over 80 degrees, so you are ok on that count.

Atitool finds max clocks through looking for artifacts,
the artifacts will either be caused by the core not being able to handle the speed or the temps being too high, or a combination of both.

Just use atitool :p

Well my card is due to come tommorrow. I've decided to abandon the idea of stripping the nVidia drivers and installing ATI ones. I've just created a new slipstreamed XP Pro SP2 CD with all the current updates and drivers. Going to take the opportunity to give my case a good clear out too and try some new cable hiding.

First up though is a good hoover of this room, bloody dust trap! ;)

Welcome to the club of

If you don't know what i mean with this, just scroll back a pair of pages and you'll find out...

:p

...but Trixx is super-rubbish at pushing your card. I got less that those with Trixx and 510/600 stable with ATI Tool. I can push 525 core, but it's not that stable.

Yes, sorry -- I dont think I was very clear in my post.

I think that the TRIXX software takes into account temperature, and its therefore not finding the max cores that the card can overclock too without artifacts, its also making sure that the temperature stays low.

I believe I have a way to prove this too. I dont have a case fan at the moment, so think that it's possible for me to reduce temps by a few degrees by simply layout out a few quid on an exhaust system. I'll slap one in and then run the tests again. I'd expect to get higher clocks & still keep the temp of the card down.

When running FEAR in both performance mode (54% VPU fan) and extreme (100% VPU fan, but higher clocks) the temp maxes and stays at around 64C currently.

EDIT:
Just thought I'd add another thought. I would think that TRIXX doesn't push the cards as much as ATI tool (3rd party software) as it is provided by Sapphire with their cards. They hardly want to encourage people to push their cards too far & hot using software that they've provided 'cos they would be due some unwelcome comeback. TRIXX comes with other variants not just the GTO2, so if people started blowing their cards and then saying it was due to the software provided with it, I dont see how Sapphire could do anything other than replace the cards.

Hi guys,

Just used ati tool and got,

550 Core/595 Mem

Pretty darn happy with that, going to set it at 530/560 for gaming

Just got this in 3dmark05

520 GPU 540 Mem - 5997

not bad, really impressed, gonna get a better graphics heatsink/fan

this is what i was getting without modding the GTO2 in 3dmark05

stock 4420

410 GPU 499 Mem 4520

420 GPU 510 Mem 4616

430 GPU 520 Mem 4706

just did 530 GPU 560 Men 6113

Not even had a chance to look into overclocking my AMD 3800+ Dual Core, need a better heatsink aswell.

cant wait to play FEAR (i hope it comes tomorrow) now on this card.

Got mine this morning. Tested it under windows at stock and 12 pipes before invalidating my warranty, all good.

I flashed it to 16 pipes with no problem at all using locutus12's CD image (thanks buddy!). I've been running ATI-Tool all morning and found my max mem is 618 and the core tops out at 527. This is on stock cooling so with an arctic cooler I hope to push the core quite a bit further. I'm very happy with the memory speeds, thats a huge increase! Core is good but not great, lets see if we can bump that with a new cooler.

So to summarise:

Core Max = 527
Mem Max = 618

I'm running 520 and 600 for now, get 6197 05 marks!

(Thats with a A64 3000, 1GB cas 2 RAM, Neo4 Ultra Mobo)

locutus12

Any chance you could do a CD Flash for a Connect X800 GTO 256mb? To get it to 16 pipes? I have seen the process on Techpowerup. Great if you could help. You are a star!!

Guys i was wondering are these cards also vmodable via the old pencil trick the old AGp X800 were able to do???

As i currently have a x800xt modded to 16pipes which runs at 620/600 but i want to go pci-e now so was wondering if these are vmodable to fit niclet with my watercooling set up

Kamz

having a problem flashing my new gto2

Now I've gone through all the steps, made a bootdisk, booted up in DOS, used the flash program.

A:\flashromp16: flashrom -f -p 0 GTO16.bin (where gto16.bin is the name of the Bios file)

I've rebooted the machine, used ATI Tray Tools to check the pipelines, but it still says 12.
What am I doing wrong?

ive even used the iso cd made by someone. the thing i don't understand is the flashing appears to all go smoothly. but still says 12pipelines?

thanks :)

ACPCUP i will work on it for you, gimme a day or 2 as i dont have much free time at the moment :)

THE TEST::::::::::::::::::

trying to get over 6000 in 3dmark, ive noticed im artifacting at 540/605 so out of curiosity i only overclocked the GPU. clocked it to 550, no artifacts and 5540 in 3d05 which makes me think my artifactings comming from my ram. so im gonna keep pushing on the GPU see if it cant do 560, then work on the memory which if i can get it all stable at say 560/580 that should give me the score i desire and the power to last me the next 12 months :)

here goes nothing... *grabs fire extinguisher*

oh, p.s. temps are great, 57oC at full load.
