Xbox 360 mod project log

PROBLEM number 1 :O

Ok... so i bought a fillport .. and on the website it said.. "cut a 1" / 2.54cm hole in the case"

I did exactly that...

Turns out that the full outer diameter of the fillport is 1" not the inner diameter of the nut that fixes it.... Ie. the website was wrong :/

So the fillport went straight through the hole i had laser cut!! :O

So... with help from my technical minded brothers! Here is my plan...

I will cut (with a laser cutter in early january) a piece of acrylic to make a kind of washer.. This will then be glued onto the back of the window where the hole is... the fillport can then be attached to that so that it lies pretty well flush with the window...

This should look really nice anyway as it will be a laser cut circle :rolleyes:

Here is what i have done temporarily out of cardboard and tape...

I made that word temporarliy stand out for all those who don't read threads!!

I to am not a fan of xbox - or red for that matter!

None the less this is a v interesting build and i wish you the best of luck for a sucessfull build as well as wanting to see the finished artical up and running :D

Ok.. so turns out the new fillport (that does fit in the hole) and in fact porbably the old fillport does not have enough clearance between the panel and the dvd drive...

So i have found a new location for the fillport (at the top)... will explain later..

I need something to fill up the hole i have though in the window... that is 1" / 2.54cm thick

Any ideas?? Some kind of switch for the lights? Which one?

Here is the problem then.. I only have about 2cm clearance between side and dvd drive...So i need a way of filling that hole...

I do have a spare xbox 360 power button but i wouldnt know where to start.. I mean it is just a piece of plastic that hits a button on a circuit board!!

The button fits perfectly in the hole...

So... I would need help with the following...

how would i make this actaully work?? I need a simple button that this hits which can be placed on the dvd drive...

I will also need help with the light that shines through the button...

Hmm part of me thinks this button could need a whole new thread..

Great that it fits! Now just to get it functioning :p

Also, if you could get a little LED in behind it to light it up when on that would look awesome :)
 
Update

Ok... so current plan is to put an xbox 360 power button in the hole in my acrylic to control lights.. Luckily the plastic rod (as you can see below) on the xbox power button is beyond the end of the dvd drive so i can use a latching push button that the xbox 360 button will hit...
