XBOX 360 Vs PC

Gaming pc:

More expensive.
Needs upgrades every year or so.

Xbox 360:

Games are double the cost of pc games.
£40 a year just to play online.

In the end there isn't much price difference.

if pc's were more stable, and i mean really ****ing stable, pc would get my vote.

but there not and you have to upgrade every 6 months to stay at max with the latest games, if u shell out £1500 on a good rig twice every year you are bit of an idiot really.

SOO, console for the most part, pc for those special games that are good for playing online on pc only e.g battlefield, CS:S, WoW - but why bother, dawn of war

but with say the 360 you will get ny on 100% playability all the time and lets face it , why would you want to play RB6:V online by your self when you could have a bunch of mates over and do system link with 16 people and only 4 rigs...that would still cost less than a single good pc rig with the same performance

theres sence in both arguments, but for practicality the console will win every time with out question.

I cant believe we're having this convo again
360's over 1 year old, its peak was Gears of War, its not all down hill from there but it certainly isnt going to go up Hill
PC - on going masterpeace, DX10/8800/Vista etc are born on the PC then copied onto consoles, if Mircrosoft re-called the 360 and made them all DX10 compatable with the built in option in games then maybe it would only be a couple of steps behind but no. If your a gaming fan and you want the lastest and greatest and dont mind spending a little then PC's the way to go.
360's are for kids thats cant play football on a saturday course its raining!

I'm going to be picking up an X360 either the end of this month or next, not decided yet :D

Although I can see many plus points to the 360, I wont be dropping PC gaming full stop, and as soon as Vista and DirectX10 hardware have been out for at least 6-8 months, I'll be building a new rig.

The only thing that I'm not to keen on with the 360 (going to be my first console since the PS), is the fact that you can't really do anything to make games run better.

I recently played GoW on a mates 360 and although very impressive, there were times when the frames dropped to a point that I noticed it, although not enough to make me want to break something; unlike some points in TDU

One other thing that is a massive strike against the 360, for me at least, is the lack of fan made mods - at least I'm not aware of any such availability, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Just my thoughts.

Scort.

what makes me laugh is all these game developers are trying to bring xbox and pc online gaming together.

hmm mouse vs controller in ut3 (ut2k7 :P)

all the better to , easy prey console FPS players if you ask me :)

Some people simply prefer to play games on PC.

Personally speaking the platform has more genres I'm interested in (Point and Click, RTS, Stratagy, RPG...etc), there's only been a few games on 360 I really want and all but two of them were ports of PC games.

If the games you want to play are getting a port to 360 and you don't mind the pad then get a 360.

You dont know what your on about mate. Probably be a year or two before the 360 peaks (at least). I'm sure theres plenty more they can squeeze out of it.

Thats if they aint brought out the new console before then :D

No contest for me PC for Sims Consoles for games, I mostly play Sims.

A PC will play both, I've yet to see a convincing sim on a console.

For sims, the PC easily. However, the PC games range is gettign a bit limp IMO. There ahsnt been a game ive wanted for a long time, whereas there seems to be a steady stream of games on the 360.

At the minute, i much prefer my 360 to my PC, infact i aint used the PC for games in almost a month. Its just nice not having to worry about costly GFX upgrades etc and just throw the disk in and play.

Each person prefers different things, some PCs and some consoles, its just personal preference IMO.

I do agree that it must be nice not to have to spend hours working out what upgrade to get.

Right now it seems every new release for the PC requires an upgrade if you want to run it at it's best.

It won't matter much in the end eventually consoles will end up like PC's, it's starting now with various addons.

But does it warrant spending the sought of cash we have to spend to keep upto date ?

What about paying £50 for a game. I recently sold my 360. I thought the price of the games was taking the ****. And you have to pay an additional £40 to play online for a 12 months period on top of what you pay your internet provider. The pc win's hands down imo. What about all the user created content for games such as UT2004, it shows given the right platform a good game can get better and better without having to pay extra fee's for more content. I also have a hdtv, a 32". Yes my 360 looked great on it but so does my pc through dvi. 360's have great pick up and play properties but for the serious gamer I think the PC rules and will contine to do so :)

Even though I don't like Consoles the cost of the games is small when compared to the ongoing cost of a PC.

I think the problem is your forever reading about peoples upgrades but you hear little about the people who don't upgrade much & in fact you don't have to upgrade as often as you see in allot of forums like here its just that some choose to because that's what they like & they can afford to just like car enthusiast do, does not mean that everyone has to upgrade their car every month.

Just look at what some people have been upgrading in the last month some old singlecore p4`s & athlons to just dual core equivalent & some really old gfxcards.

Most likey only because they want to run vista.

I would say that the GPU is most likely the part that needs upgrading once a year to play games at acceptable levels before the cpu becomes a serious bottle neck and i dont mean top end ones. most games today play well enough on mid end cpus midtop gfx cards.

February, March and April are going to be busy months. I think Bioshock , C&C 3, Unreal Tournament, Supreme Commander and Stalker are all coming out around that then.
