XBOX 360 Vs PC

think of it this way, consoles take years in development, and waiting, then only about 10% of the games released for that 5 year wait are really worth keeping, and by the time youve done all that. you could have had fun building and upgradeing your rig to play the newest of games at top graphical performance, consoles are for light gamers (im gonna get slaughtered on that one) and budgets, i like to keep ym rig at max most of the time.

sure enough i love my 360 and ps2, but i only play them for fun, its just not as exciteing as sitting infront of the comp and having a laugh with mates easily online on a sunday evening.

Not everyone can afford uber-rigs like yours.

Your getting me wrong, I didnt say it was all down hill, I have a 360 as well as a PC with a 8800GTX in it, over xmas I was only using my PC for internet while the 360 was being hammered with GOW COD3 and NFS Carbon. Latly it hasnt been switched on for over a month.
While Forza 2 is looking quite good and I will buy it I wouldnt get to excited about more visuals then what you've got already, when the PC's finally gets DX10 games Alan Wake,Crysis, UT2007 the 360 will be old hat for graphics.

What about paying £50 for a game. I recently sold my 360. I thought the price of the games was taking the ****. And you have to pay an additional £40 to play online for a 12 months period on top of what you pay your internet provider. The pc win's hands down imo. What about all the user created content for games such as UT2004, it shows given the right platform a good game can get better and better without having to pay extra fee's for more content. I also have a hdtv, a 32". Yes my 360 looked great on it but so does my pc through dvi. 360's have great pick up and play properties but for the serious gamer I think the PC rules and will contine to do so :)
I have no idea where you are buying your games but £39 max is what you should be paying. I pretty much get a new game, finish it and sell it on Amazon for a good price. A new game usually ends up by costing me about £10 to &12 which is OK. You can do the same with PC games but they generally devalue much more when used so you have to be quick in selling them.

I game on both platforms and they both have their strengths and weaknesses, but I am getting to the end of my tether with PC gaming. There have been too many titles of late with technical and performance issues - Gothic 3, Double Agent, Vanguard, hell I could go on. I do not plan on upgrading for at least another year so I will have get most of my graphical goodness from the 360. The 360 has still not reached its limits graphically due to the improved optimization that developers can implement when designing games for consoles. PC games will improve graphically well beyond what consoles can do, but this will come at huge cost and instability which I am just not prepared to pay anymore.

the way i see it

console = poor mans gaming toy
computer = rich mans toy , expensive to keep up to date but oh so satisfying when you do

The way i see it

console = for someone who likes games
Mega PC = Someone who thinks they like games more than other people
Both = A gamer

I rarely touch my 360, but keeping in mind the price, amount of games comming out, and that most console owners still have a PC that can be used to surf the internet.

I would say the x360 kind of wins, mainly due to the amount of games comming out.

Well Alan Wake and UT3 are coming to 360 too :) Probably wont look as refined as the PC versions, but then my point was not everyone cares. I am a PC gamer also but tbh with my 360 I tend to steer clear of cross-platform titles and just buy games that were designed for the 360 in the first place, or if theres a game on the PC that was either a crap dodgy port that runs like a dog on my rig 'coughdoubleagent' I'd most likely go for the 360 version.

I'll probably make the jump to DX10 and upgrade my comp in the future, but it wont be for a while yet. Theres only a few PC games I'm looking forward to this year (mainly HL2:Ep2, Hellgate London) and until DX10 is the norm I dont see the point in spending hundreds on hardware upgrades.

I have got a 360 and a good PC (AMD 3800, X1900XT 2GB 400Mhz Ram, etc etc etc) and I also have a 360. Play on the PC more than the 360 but I play on the 360 quite a bit as well as I have mates on LIVE!

At heart I am a PC gamer but I love all sorts of games and think that some games are more suited to the PC and some more the consoles.

I just like the fact that some titles that are coming to the PC which will require more power than I can throw at it are also comng to the 360. this means that I can enjoy these titles without spending loads and risk divorce.

I am bowing out of the hardware race for now (real life is catching up with me) and the 360 is allowing me to do that without missing out on some great titles.
