**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

I thought this too, may not have even been actual game play, but a video. I mean they were stuck, as the whole thing had died! so it's not to be unexpected if they resorted to something like that
Just had another look and there were xbox controller prompts on screen so much more likely they were using xbox and just haven't updated the battlelog graphic to individual consoles yet.

If anyone is saying £429 is too much think about how much that iPad or nexus 10 or iPhone or galaxy s4 cost... I know you can get contract but some people buy straight out.

They cost me nothing, because I didn't buy any of those.

Seriously, does everyone own an iPad/Nexus except me? I'm starting to feel like a luddite, here!

Or maybe the only sane person in a world of people who can't resist expensive, short-lived gadgets? :p

I suppose it depends on whether the companies get on board with it(I imagine they will do)
I really dont think they will, both Sky and Virgin have either sent years or paid a lot for their UI and their distinct features. To just replace that with a generic UI reduces access to those particular features.

Those services just far better developed than what you see in general from cable providers in the US.

Console should last 5 years. Hardly say its expensive when you buy a 32-55" TV for £350-£2000 in comparison or spend money on anything your passionate about.

Yeah, I get that.

The make or break will be whether it simply shows the HDMI output from the box that still requires a remote, or if there's some kind of interface allowing to to change channel without the remote.
It seems the intention is for it to use HDMI CEC to allow you to control the other box and if that won't work for some reason it has an infrared blaster port to allow it to remote switch the source box that way.

You could have done this with a pc long before the xboxone

I've got my PC hooked up to my TV via HDMI, I do a lot of it already.

However, it's not voice controlled, it's not as integrated as a dedicated box would be. A couple of examples:-

So as not to compromise on performance the screen is a duplicate, not a second output. This is restrictive.

To change the audio between the PC speakers and the TV I need to click a batch file shortcut in the taskbar.

Just not practical to have a Skype camera and microphone on the TV while the PC is on the other side of the room.

Can't watch 'all' of the Sky channels via the PC.

If I could have all of these features, neatly packaged in a stylish little box under the TV for £430, I think I'll get involved.

BF3 does that when you use a pad.....

*Edit* Actually, thinking about it might not.

It would be cool if you could gesture/swipe etc around windows in a media center. (have a logitech webcam on top of the tv)

Think that is the only feature I am missing from this

Kinect for windows + Nuc

I doubt they will bring the cable thing over to win8 though, to niche a market.

I was quite impressed with the Xbox event. Thought the games looked great, add those to the usual suspects, CoD & FIFA and I'll be placing my pre-order tomorrow.

The free games, the combined Gold sub for the console were all nice bonuses. So one Gold sub per console, did I hear that right?
