**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Unfortunately it also means they are dropping the advantages too, no sharing of digital games, disc required in the drive, etc.

LOL Microsoft 180 confirmed, its still too late for me to go back to microsoft, if anyone thinks they've done this for the customers there deluded, they realized how bad the pre order numbers were and changed what people disliked. The damage will be done for most, this was always going to happen in the end. But its still got less power, a kinnect that has to be always connected and £80 dearer.

Do you think Sony did that announcement for the consumer?

If you think either of them are doing it for anything other than increasing sales then you are beyond deluded.

I'm seeing this as both a bad and a good thing.

Firstly, I think it's a good thing that MS as a company are willing to listen to their consumers. The vast majority were dead against their policies, so they changed them. I have no problems with any company who do that. After all, they want to sell as many consoles as possible, so they need to appeal to as many users as possible. With these changes, they can do that.

I see it as a bad thing however because I was really looking forward to some of the innovative features that they were bringing in. Family sharing looked like an amazing feature. Being able to install from disc and then not need it in the drive was a great feature. I'm sad that these won't be there any more.

I hope that MS continue to try to develop their vision of a digital future in the background. Obviously all these features were built into the software otherwise they wouldn't be able to make these changes so quickly. Perhaps rather than go for the big changes in one go, they can drip feed them over the life of the console. If they do that, and get it right, when the next Xbox comes out the public will be ready to jump on board.

Lastly though, I don't want to see people in here moaning about Microsoft and how they are refusing to innovate and that nothing will really change except for prettier graphics. Sony were the ones who went down that road first, and the public decided that was the way they wanted to go. I don't want to see MS blasted for going along with public opinion.

Edit: I am however very happy that the console will now be region free. It's a huge bonus that I can finally import a proper baseball game for the Xbox if I want one.

It'll be a real shame if we lose the ability to do things like share every game on the XBOX One with 10 friends and family because of this, it was a huge advantage that just got consistently ignored in the nerd rage about only being able to sell games to registered retailers games and being *shock* connected to the internet. :(

So much for progress, back we go to the same as last time but with slightly prettier graphics :(

Ignore the PS4 fanboys, this is the way they see the world:

MS stick their ground "stupid MS, nobody wants this crap"

MS listen and make changes "lol MS, they're so stupid"

This is pretty cringeworthy when it's so hilariously obvious that you have a massive chubby on for MS/Xbox.

How would they do it now?

The only way I can see it is only for games that are bought digitally.

Would be nice if they kept all the features they were planning but just for digital titles.

Very hard to not to still be confused. Gonna wait til we have a better idea whats gonna happen. In hindsight all those very recent interviews with MS execs sound so hollow...

ps3ud0

Necessary? I've not put a DVD in my PC for years yet have nearly 100 games at the click of a button, all paid for, available without a net connection. Why is a disc needed anymore apart from the initial install if your internet is slow?

Because they will cost £40-50 new and the ability to resell them is useful, were they £20-30 for the new releases with sales on all the time like Steam it wouldn't matter so much.

Some of us aren't upset with MS, rather more the short sighted and narrow minded "public" that has forced this redact.

I can't wait to see what Francis says about this. :D
He was one bad story away from a heart attack so this should relieve hospital canteen staff all over America at the very least.

Given the U-turn it wouldn't be unfair to call those calling for DRM short sighted and narrow minded tbh.
