Quite early on in the lifespan of the 360 myself & the Mrs decided that Live was an absolute cesspit and set all our communication preferences accordingly.

The only people that can communicate with us via text or voice are people on our friends lists. The first picture she received of a penis was quite funny though.

They must be seriously considering a £350 non Kinect version at least.

I'd probably buy one if they did. (I'm a sucker like that.)

That always on camera and mic is going no where near my house.

I like the idea of what they are trying to do with the reputation system (never thought I'd say that about MS again after the reveal) but it looks like it's going to be open to abuse. How long is it before people start getting negged for winning a Fifa match or race online or getting a kill that the victim did not see coming?
What they should do first & foremost is enforce age restrictions for online games 90% of the abuse comes from prepubescent children.

He just doesnt want it like most including myself, why pay £80 for a console very similar potentially inferior to its competitor for a special camera which would be turned off anyway makes zero sense.

That's a completely different point. If you don't want Kinect, that's fine, that's your right. That's not what he's saying though is it? He's purposefully posting rubbish he knows isn't true. That's not the same as saying "I don't want to be forced into buying Kinect".

It might be off but is it really off ?

Switch it off and you cannot disconnect it. So it is still "listening"

It's off the same way the mic and camara on your phone are off when your not using them.

Do all these people take the battery out of their phone when they arent making calls?

my only concernes with Kinect are pervs sending my wife pictures and stuff and non-stop vid chat requests cause OMG ITS A WOMAN ON BATTLEFEILD!!!!

And my wife posting vids of my doing yoga or just dance once she gets me drunk enough at xmas. the facebook vid on me on lips from her mobile was bad enough, but my "U cant touch this" is the best version a white man has ever done!

thats not entirely true - the mic is constantly listening for the "Xbox on" voice command - that in itself says the device isnt off. A phone doesnt have its mic on until you launch a process which requires it

No its not as you can turn that off as well according to one of the interviews.

No you can turn that function off aswell and just use the controller to turn the machine on and off.

I wish Microsoft and Sony would do one large interview with some solid hard facts or a Q&A of fans most asked questions, its not too difficult im sure.

Yes, we did cover it 25 pages ago, and as I explained then (and as others have already mentioned), you can turn everything off. I explained this and confirmed it with links to an interview with someone with MS.

For the record, one more time, everything to do with Kinect can be turned off. It still has to be plugged in, but the whole thing can be turned off. Just don't ask me to explain why it still has to be connected if it can be turned off, as I'm yet to see an explanation about that.

I think MS will cover a lot of topic at Gamescom next month, they have an hour long session booked. I'm still hoping for either a price drop, or an SKU without Kinect.
