**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Of course they are going to talk up Kinect 2.0, they did it with the first one.

Probably be all BS.
I've seen a video of it in action (was linked on the last page I think), and it looks like the reports could well be right. It looks insanely accurate, and did indeed load profiles just by people walking into shot, and even recognised when the two players had swapped controllers. That's potentially very very cool.

So, can i download BF4 on release on the xbox one? Will it be the same price as the Shop version? and will i get all the shinny DLC that comes with the limited edition copy?

I would like gmaes like BF4 and forza on my HD without needing to put disks in to play they are games that will be lasting me at least a year or 2 (before then the next iteration) but i dont want to miss out on DLC/bundled stuff.

All the shops and online retailers are rinsing us for full RRP so why should i just DL it from MS (apart from the 2hrs of I WANNA PLAY ON MY NEW TOY while it downloads)

So no getting my wife to grind achivements for me? right thats it im getting a divorce!

So as expected the 'won't support indie' media witch hunt was just bull **** as usual.
Not really when they themselves cancelled the XBLIG program and also said they wouldnt be relaxing their requirement to require authorised publishers.

Hell its just seems another turnaround

Heh, just turn Kinect off for that, if it's off it won't have a clue who's playing ;)

I doubt it's a turnaround (or at least one made recently), as I heard one dev on Twitter say that it wouldn't be possible for MS to have decided this recently, due to the amount of time and effort it would take to effectively turn all production Xbox Ones into dev kits as well.

Perhaps they were keeping quiet because they didn't know if it would be feasible to do? I don't know, but as far as I'm concerned it's a good thing for indie developers, and those who enjoy buying indie games. It doesn't effect me personally as I don't think I've ever bought an indie game on the Xbox.

Actually they said they had no firm plans in place yet regarding the future of XBLIG. Most websites turned this into "no indie games ever!" to get page views.

TBH I agree with that, though when you look at that with knowledge of things like XNA toolset not being updated by MS it all sounds like movement away from indie development. Phil Harrison did say the XBLIG channel wouldnt make the XO though IIRC...

For most, the news is neither here or there though...

Finally got around to putting my game pre-orders in today. So far I've got...

Dead Rising 3
Forza 5
Fifa 14
Watch Dogs
Battlefield 4

Hopefully I can pull enough money together to get them all, and possibly one or two others as well. It still feels miles away even though it's only 3-4 months, which I'm sure will fly by as soon as GTA V hits. Tempted to keep a few days holiday back for when the console releases, as it will likely be around my birthday so it'll be a double reason to stay off work!

That's quite a few games to get so close together (potentially), would it not make sense to just get a few and then pick the rest up later? Although I guess that depends on whether they drop in price much in the weeks/months after release.

I did consider that but I don't think they'll drop much in price (if at all) during the first couple of months, and with new consoles I always like having a few games to play so I don't overplay the ones I have, and end up getting bored of them.

I really can't make my mind up over what games to pre-order, Dead Rising 3 aside.

I'll be getting both next gen consoles, so I'm thinking a couple of games on each to start with. It makes the multi-platform titles a real pain to choose which console to get them on!

The more I think about it, this what is putting me off buying a next gen console - the prices of the games. Say £50 a title + £430 for the One and there is nearly £700. That's just nuts. I'm starting to come around to the idea of letting the new console releases pass me buy and concentrate on finishing the dozens of game I have from this gen and pick one up next year at some point.

I rarely buy games at release and rarely pay more than £20 for a title, exceptions being things like COD, FIFA and GTA. With GTA V coming out too I think that will keep me occupied for long enough.

I've still got pre-orders for both and I will decide nearer the time, but I'm less certain I'll buy either at release.

It is a crazy outlay, mine will be about £800 give or take. It should last me quite a while with no need to buy brand new games after though.

It is a massive outlay. Especially as I'm unsure if my mates will get an Xbox One straight away and playing FIFA/COD online with them is a large amount of my console time - I might still end up buying games on the 360 too!

It is nuts, I can't argue that, but I consider it a nice treat to myself. I don't smoke, I don't drink much, I don't go out and party like I used to (old and married now), and I don't really have expensive hobbies. Splashing money like this is definitely not something I do all the time, but considering I spent £1400 on a top end gaming laptop, I find it easier to justify spending £700 on a console and 5-6 games. :)

Pretty much the same here although for me it was a PC rather than laptop. With a 7 year life the consoles will gradually go down in price I dare say ending up at <£200 eventually, it's just a matter of thinking about how much use you get out of it over what time scale.
