**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

The “I don’t” of the two sides:

Xbox One:
I don’t want a camera looking at me all the time
I don’t want to use Kinect
I don’t want to use voice commands or silly hand gestures
I don’t want it to be a media hub
I don’t want fantasy American football
I don’t want to “snap” things
I don’t want a VCR looking case
I don’t want Skype
I don’t want to pay to play online
I don’t want to play a fee to play 2nd hand games

PS4:
I don’t want a stupid Playstation eye looking at me all the time
I don’t want to use a wand with a giant coloured orb on the top of it.
I don’t want to connect to Facebook or any social media.
I don’t want a freaking touchpad on the control pad
I don’t want to have a share button to record videos
I don’t want people dropping into to my games to stalk (I mean watch)
I don’t want it to learn my habits and download demos/games for me in advance.
I don’t want a stupid childish version of Ratchet and Clank

I ran out of other stuff that most people seem to be moaning about. Feel free to add more ;)

TLDR: There’s cons for both "current" announcements. Just give me a "games console" ! I want to be able to plug it into the TV put a game into the console and play. None of this other BS !

(I will still most likely buy both :p )

The xbox one has a 500GB hard drive internally and it's going to be using blu ray discs those are facts.

A quick google says that the capacity of a blu ray disc is 25 GB (single-layer) and 50 GB (dual-layer). Does the hard drive capacity seem a little low to anyone else?

I know the games wont be using all the disc capacity to begin with but with such high definition textures/audio/video surely it will start to get close? Actually saying that Mass Effect 3 on the PS3 is like 14GB I think.

It looks like it will probably stand vertically, yes.

This for definite? The pics seem to show it has vents at both ends, one also has a usb slot that it could not be stood on that end. And the other and has no "feet", so if you did stand it on that end it would scuff the whole side, as well as blocking the vent.

I've read (somewhere) that you'll be able to add storage via USB 3.

So far i'm thinking I might give this a miss, but I want to see what other games are going to be announced. Not liking what they showed yesterday.

I was going to consider one of the next-gen consoles, but neither have impressed me tbh....and certainly not at those prices!

Hopefully the new Xbox will have far less exclusives(looks like basically a HTPC running Windows 8 ffs!)

Exactly. People need to realise this is meant to be a piece of AV equipment that fits in with everything else under your TV, not just a games console that looks like a George Foreman grill, or some other bizarre shape that a 5 year old created.

I'd expect the PS4 to look equally as understated, although perhaps slightly more styled going by the leaked video.

Makes me howl that for ages people have slated the 360 and PS3 designs, and now they get what they wanted they still complain!

I hoped console makers would one day tone the aesthetics down a bit. Less 'toy' and more in keep with the rest of the hardware sat under my TV. I agree with you Nismo and welcome the change. :)

For the record I'm still likely to go with the PS4 since I've always been a Sony fanboy :o:D

There is more to follow with regards to used games. I doubt Microsoft will not allow used games. They will probably put something in place like when you buy a used game you will need to by an activation key form say Game and it will work. Say that key costs £5 the game will cost say £25 instead of £20.

I'd have no problem with that. The retailer would make money from selling the game on and publishers would get money as well. It all depends how much they'd charge though.

What prices?

Obviously we don't know exactly yet, but the prices being talked about are not likely to be drastically off(and my comment was including game prices as well, which will not change, or more likely increase from the current gen).

Tbh, if I did get a console, it would have to be knowing that I could buy cheap second-hand games, as I just can't justify full-price games.
