**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

That's always been the wisest choice, nothing has changed. As I said before any console you pre-order unless it's both of them has a pinch of brand loyalty attached. Otherwise you are ordering on the basis of a small list of games that might not even be good.

I wouldn't make the choice of pre-ordering 'similar' spec cameras from Nikon and Canon from a spec sheet without trying them hands on and seeing un bias reviews of performance.

I'm not sure that's a great comparison. Camera's are released quite regularly so you'll usually want reviews etc to see how it stacks up to the competition. Also you're likely to only get one. I imagine quite a few on here have more than one last gen console so it's a matter of when not if.

Rubbish! The Dead Rising games aren't boring, they're awesome :p

Ha ha, I semi enjoyed the first one being totally new to zombie games but the save system and controls when I got to the clown guy had me hitting the eject for good. Since then in the current gen I feel swamped by game after game of infected or zombies.

I'm just so bored of slow moving enemy in their masses. I don't find it either scary of challenging just a button spam fest. Now if it's done like Dead space 1, that's a whole different matter. Tense, limited ammo and fast and slow moving infected fine. Picking up a weapon and spamming my way through a screen of them, not interested :)

The problem is with new consoles unless you pre-order you miss out at launch.

That's the problem I face, I'd love to wait until they are out to see exactly what the difference is and get a hands on, but if I do that, I miss out on a launch console and possibly have to wait months to get one.

At the end of the day, I don't really care if the Xbox One is "underpowered" (a really funny phrase), nor do I care if the games run at 900p while the PS4 versions run at 1080p. All I care about is playing great games. At the moment, I think anyone would be hard pressed to say the PS4 has a more appealing game line up at launch (unless you're a big indie fan), so that's why I won't be cancelling or swapping my Xbox One pre-order like some people here have.

People are buying their consoles for the future and not for the launch titles, and based on that it would make sense to buy the most powerful console. Assuming based on your argument that games will improve in quality as developers get used to the system that would apply to both systems therefore the margin will always be there.

There is no doubt at all that the PS4 will have great exclusives (I believe the best exclusives of this generation were on the PS3) so this leaves the multi-platform titles which if there is going to be a difference and the gameplay remains the same, why not choose the better looking version if you have the option.

Maybe MS did actually see the Xbone as a multi-media TV box which they pushed it as in their reveal they actually forgot to develop it as a games console for the future..

The biggest problem with the build-up towards this generation of console release's is how a lot of people appear to confuse there own opinion with actual fact.

:D

Yes, the PS4 is more powerful, but so what? My PC blows both of them away, so does that mean I shouldn't buy either console? Should I not buy a Wii U because if pales in comparison to the other consoles? Like I said, if power is all that interests you, get a PC upgrade instead.

You're also assuming that there will be a huge difference between the games on each console. Yes, the PS4 is more powerful on paper, and I'm sure that will translate into a real world difference. Will it be as big as the 50% some people are suggesting? No, it won't be close to that IMO. It might mean the PS4 is 10-15% more powerful in the real world, which is not as big a gap as people think. I could well be wrong on that, we'll have to wait and see.

Oh, and this is wrong by the way, at least for me. I'm not buying the consoles based on some unknown games I have no idea about and haven't even been announced yet. I'm buying the consoles based on the games I do know about. That's why I'm getting the Xbox One first, and the PS4 next year.

I should have known the wars would flare up again as we got closer to november....now the GTA fever has died down and we're less than a month til launch everyone can go back to "PS4 has better spec", "Xbox One has the cloud", "we don't need a new poll" :p

As you will read in my previous post, I also have a PC that's capable of running things maxed out etc yet I choose to play most games on the consoles these days - and I will be getting both on day one.

Not everyone is in that position and will have to choose one or the other. Under those circumstances why would you choose to pay more for a less powerful machine? The only reason I can see is exclusives and both machines will have their own and based on the current gen Sony has a good record with them, with multi-platform titles which could technically run better on the PS4 by whatever percentage or by whatever extra res. So that only leaves brand loyalty, and that is a stupid reason to buy a machine, whether it be Sony, MS or whatever.

Personally I am basing my decision on future titles and support, whether it's unannounced or not. I've got past experiences to help me decide, aka the Xbox, 360, PS1, 2 and 3. With that, I can sort of guess what to expect from the future in both systems. I am pretty confident I will be happy with the PS4 throughout it's life. I am unsure of the X1 and therefore will be waiting a while till I decide to get one or not. If the games interest you now then that's fine :), just I'm personally cautious about the X1 because I can't say I enjoyed the Xbox or 360 much as there was nothing for them that interested me.

The only thing really making me interested for the X1 is the indie dev stuff, but I'll wait and see how that pans out. I didn't enjoy XLIG and XNA much (even though XNA was great for prototyping stuff quickly).

edit: Not having a go at you Davey :), didn't mean to say it like it sounds like in my head when re-reading it xD, just saying why I think people (myself included) are buying it based on future stuff, plus I've not read half this thread haha so dunno if it was already said...

you'd still get one before Christmas.

That's what I'm planning on doing, not pre-ordered but confident that I'll be able to walk into a store and buy a X1 long before Christmas.

You won't have to wait "months".

I agree, if you are only planning on owning one console there is a pretty clear choice IMO. If you plan on owning both at some point then it doesn't matter so much which one you get first, just get which has more games you want right at that moment.

Any more word yet on whether the Kinect has a hole for a tripod mount? I've been thinking that if nothing official or 3rd party comes out at launch, you could get either a Gorillapod or a suction-cup mount and attached that to the back of your TV.

(in before the blu-tack/velcro/gaffer tape crew :p)

I think for me I just couldn't make a decision based on the unknowns. No-one knows which console in say 3 years time will have the better game line up. I know Sony has some amazing developers, and I can't wait to see what games could out of places like Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica, but we can't say with any certainly whether those games will be better than whatever comes out on the Xbox. We can assume, we can guess, but that's all we're doing. It's why I would make my decisions based on what I know for sure.

No worries, I didn't read it like you were having a go. :)

I think this is why my viewpoint is possibly different to others. I would never restrict myself to just one console and I know that I will own both (and fairly soon as well), so I must admit I find it difficult to look at from a point of only owning one console, as I would never and have never done that. As I know I will own both, it does come down for me on a decision on which to buy first.

That's the same situation for me, I just don't know which to buy first.

Wait 6 months to enjoy Dead Rising and the others or wait for 6 months with not many games to play on my PS4.

It took me 2 or so months to get a 360. It will not take anything like that long with the Xbone. They cannot afford to have people waiting around this time to get a console as the competition will be launching at the same time. More than ever both consoles need to nail the supply chain or people will just buy another console.

If by Christmas people cannot walk in to a store and buy an Xbone if they want one MS are in even more of a world of hurt.

Why? MS have said this is the biggest launch they have ever done, so surely they would be very happy if every console they make gets sold as soon as it gets to the shops. I think they'd be more worried if they were struggling to sell them.

Because if the Sony supply chain is better and people cannot get a xbone you may drive people to pick up a PS4 instead, losing sales.

Not everyone buys both. I have never owned more than one console per generation ever. Everyone I know outside of Ocuk owns one or the other this gen.

Likely to have more XO consoles where they launch purely because they arent hitting as many countries - cant say thats a receipe for not having XO consoles on the shop floor to sell. Its where they are launching later than Sony thats probably more a worry...

ps3d0
