**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

As I responded to the same thing in the PS4 thread, the only thing confirmed so far is that they've dropped the 'media center extender' stuff from the One.

I didn't actually realise how popular DLNA was. Maybe i'm just old fashioned? ;)

Well just need something that will allow video to be played over a network

But the reality of it does not fit into the statements they put out?
Or the reality is that the hardware is harder to get to grips with than they envisaged? Do you really think that just because some launch titles run at 720p that this is the best the Xbox One can do? Do you not remember the difference in quality between the games on the current gen at launch and the games available now?

I think the gap is always going to be there, you can say the same about the PS4 hardware, what happens when they start to push PS4 more.

I myself am disappointed with the XB1 hardware as competition is good for all. I would have purchased Microsofts effort again if it was on par with PS4.

The only 2 titles that we know are running at 1080P on XB1 are Forza, which is using last gen rendering techniques e.g no deferred rendering or lighting, and NBA which we aren't sure what rendering techniques they are using so far.

Anything with deferred rendering is running at 720P 60fps or 900P 30 FPS in the case of Ryse.

Of course they will get to grips with the ram etc, but they will never, ever close the gap to PS4 in terms on GPU power, it's impossible

The cloud has nothing to do with graphics.

i think most of us would agree, but guess who doesnt? davey pitch's mate microsofts vice prezzy phil harrison

"It’s also about cloud processing and AI. This is where some of the computational effort of a game can be offloaded to the dedicated CPUs on the cloud, to make your game experience even better, better graphics, better lighting, better physics. This is an example of where we think the the cloud is going to push the next generation of game development in new and creative ways, that will make the experience even more better."

Possibly, it really depends what is left under the hood. For all we know, developers could be currently using 70% of the PS4 power, but only 50% of the Xbox One power due to more complicated hardware. The PS4 would still be more powerful at 100%, but the gap would be reduced when the Xbox is at 100%

I'm only speculating here, but even the great and powerful Cboat has gone on record as saying the gap between the 2 consoles will reduce in the future as developers get to grips with the Xbox hardware.

I don't want to get into yet another pointless technical argument (as it's all just speculation and guesswork), but don't forget that refining the drivers could easily yield better GPU performance, on either console. If MS have better drivers, they get more out of the hardware.

That's because there is no argument to be had, and it's not speculation or guesswork.

Well I was on the fence on what to buy but it now looks like it's the PS4, multi-plats are going to look way better on it. I mean COD 720 v 1080p, BF4 1600x900 v 1280x720p? the decision is easy.

All you need is a screw driver :)
Right, so the developers are using 100% of the power of both consoles right now? This is as good as games are going to look? Are you trolling again, or just that naive?

Just so we're clear, I'm not suggesting that the Xbox is going to somehow magically become more powerful than the PS4. It's not. However, if the console is harder to develop for (and by all accounts, it is) then it stands to reason there are gains to be made in the future when the developers get to grips with the console. If you can't see that, I really have no hope for you.

PS3 was harder to develop for than the 360 and that never made any gains. Just look at the last of us, blurry mess.
