damaged eyes omgI'm 40 years young been gaming my whole life playing at much worse resolutions than 720 and my eyes are still perfect
I think you're likely to see this a lot with both next gen consoles. We're at initial games, mostly cross gen or cross platform with devs only just getting to grips with the new hardware vs 7 year old consoles that devs have learned to squeeze every last effect and advantage out of. You only have to look at launch games on PS3/360 vs the most recent to see the changes. The delta will get clearer over the next year or two on both consoles.Had a play on one last night. I do like the new pad, but that's about it. I had a go on Forza 5 demo and watched some beat em up game, whatever it's called.
Visually I couldn't really tell any difference between XBO and 360. They were on kinda small TVs though... maybe 27". .
What an utter load of gash....My eyes are used to 1080p crispness where they can just gaze into the screen, when playing 720p you cant do that and your eyes try to focus automatically but never can because it's displayed like that.
Honestly after an hour eyes were strained and red, felt sick too.
Haha this is awesome. How much has mankind evolved to feel sick and get red eyes when watching anything less than 1080p......
Your using a pc and honestly telling me you can't tell the difference between 1280x720 and 1920x1080 thats utterly crazy its twice the detail and my opinion as i have been playing games at 1920x1080 for 5-6 years on my pc can tell the difference its not something you can just not notice on a 42" tv!
Im not talking about the xbox one or trolling here just it really is noticeable on a pc when 1980x1080 is a minimum for pc gamers, not so much on my ps3/xbox 360 when playing gtav as compared to my pc it looks shocking but i play it cos its fun (and its not out on pc yet)![]()
You're forgetting that XO output is 1080p which is not the same as looking at pure 720p on a 720p screen
but the most churlish would admit that the comparative videos and reports on BF4 puts XOs 720p upscaled to 1080p on a pretty much on a par with PS4 version and some even prefer it. Of course going for 720p potentially gives you the option to use more effective AA/Anio filtering etc but let's not get into that nit picking argument.
So yes, "native" 1080p textures are preferable all other things being equal, but 720 upscaled to 1080p is not quite the same as directly running a game at 1280x720 on a PC.
Ooooh.... well played sir...Crater loads is trolling saying he can damage his eyes, if that's the case how could he have played any last gen game which we know he enjoyed loads of
On some games, it's hard to tell. Marvel was one or them, I assumed it was in 1080p and didn't really question it.

omg me and the mrs are in stitchesBecause that's all I played early last gen 720p and that's what my eyes were used too. I've been pretty much PC strictly for the last few years @ 1080p which ive become accustomed too.

You probably need to take a step away from the PC and calm down. Of course native 1080p may be better than 720p upscaled to 1080p all other things being equal, but then all other things aren't always equal and there's more to image quality than pure resolution. Everything from texture quality & compression, Anti Aliasing methods, anisotropic filtering, tessellation and a bunch of other filtering, make a difference and it's entirely possible (not that i'm saying this is actually the case on this specific occasion as having not seen first hand I don't know) that the GPU load released by stepping down from 1080p to 720p can produce better all up results of image quality if it allows improved filtering and enhancements elsewhere. Hell the contrast, sharpening, brightness and colour temperature settings on your TV could have more influence over image quality than the console output (how many people have colour, contrast and sharpness turned up way too high on TVs!!!)Absolute rubbish, so sick of the Microsoft FUD that's doing the rounds.
Whatever upscaler your using it will NEVER produce the detail of 1080p....because it doesn't exist !!.
Those Battlefield 4 comparison videos were very suspect.
There is no need to settle for 720p multiplats, especially when the more powerful product is £75 cheaper !!
Think you've got problems, I've been playing PC games at 1440p for the last year so ner...Because that's all I played early last gen 720p and that's what my eyes were used too. I've been pretty much PC strictly for the last few years @ 1080p which ive become accustomed too.
