**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

I have a question for anyone in here that can hopefully help, I have my Virgin Tivo passing through the Xbox and on certain channels/sources its as smooth as butter, but sport feels like it judders slightly, it's not 100% smooth and I was wondering wether thats my output resolution of the tivo or some other setting? as I see no reason why only sport is displayed in that way, it's very noticable

So after my issues with the voice commands, i re-did it and all is well again although sometimes it wont pick up my voice but its not a huge issue...hopefully they can make it better through some updates in the future.

Played Forza 5 for a couple of hrs last night and its just so damn gorgeous graphically, love the rumble triggers..gives a real sense of the tires gripping the surface of the road and you can sense when the back end of the car is about to give way lol. Superb game and one of my faves at the moment.

Played more of COD Ghosts and i have to say, it has blown me away...the gameplay i thought was out of this world and even on my old HDTV ready TV it looked pretty good. I had the colour blindness on, which i guess is enabled by default so everything was looking pink ie explosions etc....kinda had me stumped as to why i was getting pink coloured explosions lol. But sorted that out and everything looked lifelike. Really enjoying the game although i was never a huge fan of the COD series but ghosts is pretty decent.

Tonight ill try a blu ray on it to see what its like and how loud it gets etc. But so far mine has absolutely no issues, its quiet when it isnt reading from the disc but even when it is, its nothing like the 360 ie jet engine.

Apparently Xbox has sold more than a million consoles in less than 24 hours - nice going considering the limited markets and predictions of doom from some.

I don't think anyone thought they would have trouble with the first few months. It's after xmas I believe the pain will come. Limited decent games and a £425 price tag and bundles that are £475ish with a game.

I think after people have spent at xmas they will have real trouble selling systems at that price point. I think they needed to have double the units available for xmas for sales.

To keep sales going in the new year they will have to have some mega bundles with games and another controller or cut the price.

I can't remember what happened last time around - do they start giving games away for free (as part of a bundle) after a few months?

PMSL!

Whats the noise levels like on the new box? also do you have to use the camera?

Absolutely fine. I would say its nearly silent, in fact my freeview box makes more noise even though i hoovered the thing out.

As for the kinect i have it plugged in, the benefits leaving it plugged in far outweigh unplugging it. Although you dont actually have to have it connected.

anyone played DR3? dunno if its me but quite disappointed with it. brought it in game in store for day 1 edition £55! :( stupid me

Yeah games like zoo tycoon, Need for speed, fifa and forza will start being lobbed in to justify the price tag for a while but I just don't know that many more casual gamers that will drop that sort of money in the first 6 months of the year with xmas to get over and then summer coming.

Time will tell to see if I'm right but I have always thought launches this close to xmas are a bit stupid.

how do you control kinect sport thing? it just sits at the start screen, im sitting in my seat about 5 feet from the kinect, it cans see me on the kinect setup ok

Hold your hand out so that a cursor appears on screen, or start it with the controller.

Basic controls are lean for left/right, open hands for brake and close hands for throttle. Works pretty well.

Nice one thanks mate

This had me flumoxed as well and I can't understand why there were no instructions.

Anyway I was trying to get it working by 'hovering' the hand icon like on old Kinect and then my 5 year old son walked in and got it working immediately.
Basically you line the hand up and push forward with your hand as if pressing the button.
The hand icon on screen gets more opaque the closer you get to it working.
Wasn't obvious to me but was clear as day to a 5 year old.
At least he can't beat me at FIFA (yet) :D

Have an unopened Xbox on my floor, can't really afford to keep it now I need a new clutch.....god damn it, tough life choices.

Still can't believe what thought process went through MS head to remove friend online notifications...

Also tried inviting my friend to a FIFA game earlier and from what I seen they isn't a place to go to accept the invite from the dashboard.....

It's not impressive at all when you consider Sony shifted that amount in one territory.
Doesn't really make much difference does it as they both effectively sold out - one territory or 923, they couldn't have sold any more even if they wanted to. PS4 had first launch no competition advantage in the worlds biggest console market. Xbox always has been and still is the underdog in the console market with Sony dominating in every market other than the US, which I guess is why PS4 launched there first concentrating every single PS4 they had available into a market they knew would buy them all so they didn't have to compete against an already selling X1.

In any case it's funny to see the "OMG Sony rocks - PS4 sold 1million PS4 in 24 hours" shortly followed with "OMG MS only sold more than 1 million XO in less than 24 hours" <insert string of excuses here> from the usual suspects. :D

It certainly beats the predictions of 700k tops that have been posted around here after Sony announced 1 million. PS4 is always going to outsell XO just as PS2, PS3 etc outsold XB & 360, until recently it pretty much had a monopoly and is still the incumbent.

I would expect launch at this time of year means by far the majority of sales will be to console gamers and fanboys. There will be some lucky Christmas present recipients but at £300+ plus games at £45 I can't imagine there will be many. Some time next year there will be the bundled (launch) games, in particular as the post Christmas second wave of releases starts to hit, then eventually there will be a price decrease/more bundles in the run up to next Christmas, potentially giving MS more room to discount than Sony.

I think we'll only have a good idea of numbers properly in 12-18months time once we're into the proper selling cycle. Launch sales numbers are rarely indicative of eventual all up numbers as it's a very skewed market.
