**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Astro will not work.

No chat adaptor and will only receive stereo sound via optical out. The mixamp will make it 5.1 bit I would wait until they announce xb1 headsets as you may not need a mixamp as the pad should be able to outputsurround ssound via the new connector.

Did people really expect only 700k XB1s to be sold on day 1?

My estimate was 800k in north america and 400k in europe
Seems reasonable. PS4 was always going to romp the launch/Christmas sales as outside the US it's the incumbent already which coupled with XO more expensive price and the PR fubars earlier in the year pretty much guaranteed PS4 a massive head start barring any major unforeseen problems.

More interesting numbers will come in 18 months once we see if MS gamble on being a little more "casual" friendly with ambitions around the living room hub market pays off. For that to happen there would have to be price cuts which I don't think we'll see until this time next year, although then MS may have a little more elbow room for bigger cuts than Sony who are pretty close tot he bone already.

In any case I think we can see both consoles have had a successful launch which can only be good for console gaming. Interestingly the real gaming "enemy" and competition isn't each other, it's cheap iOS/Android and in theory now Windows tablets...

Both consoles were pretty much going to sell out at launch, seems to be a few XB1s around in a few places worldwide but they have pretty much both sold out their initial batches. The more interesting part of sales as you said is the future, Sony have 2 more large sales push this year, next week in EU/Pal regions and later in December for Asia/ Middle East and African regions. I dont expect the latter to have a large supply of PS4s arriving but it looks like Sonys supply chain looks to be be pretty healthy. As for MS, their next big push is early 2014 but we dont have dates or regions yet, I dont think we well know till Black Friday and xmas sales, cant wait for the first few months NPD from the US.

It literally takes hours to install games off the disk, I'm starting to get pretty annoyed :(

Yep but at least you dont have to wait for the game to completely install before playing it. Just play the game while its still installing, a 30gb+ install isnt going to be fast lol.

What's the diff between day one release and standard console

Just the controller on the day one edition has day one 2013 etched onto it.

I have 3 Live accounts, no idea why I did that, and was just wondering what would happen when trying to log in to the One if I had all 3 set to the Kintect log in. I shall not be trying it when I get mine in case it melts.

Ok, i'm being thick, where are the settings to add additional devices (amp/TV etc) to the xbox to control... Set it up once and can't find it again....

yea but he probably want's one now rather than monday and it would appear most people have no issue finding a non day one console in stock at the supermarkets

Maybe in a larger city but round here there are non in stock. My local Tesco does not even stock Games for it.

Depends what you class as fast. it shouldn't take anywhere near an hour. MAX 30 mins. I was sorta hoping not all consoles were like that and it was some sort of bug. For those of you with many games, they dont all take an hour+ to install do they?

In late last night and flu'd up today but finally unboxing and setting up!

Using the mains<>power brick cable from the 360S shouldn't be an issue should it? Looks to be exactly the same and would save me some under desk tunnelling!

I'd change it even if it was the same, mainly for the brick. I did read though that the bricks are different but the cable itself is identical if that helps.

Well that depends on how big the install is, the larger it is the longer it will take. Plus bear in mind that its probably unpacking a lot of textures and other stuff to install and the xbox one uses a standard HD rather than a super fast SSD...in hindsight they should have used a 500gb SSD as the hard drive especially at the price point they are selling it at. And the added benefits is that installs would be a lot faster than installing to a standard HD which is iirc SATA3??.

Ive installed both ghosts and forza and they were done in about 45mins i think, never bothered to time them as it wasnt and isnt an issue as you can play the game after a certain percentage has been reached of the install.

Now I'm a PS lover and really want a PS4, but popped around to a mate's last night to play on his XBOne.

Wow, incredibly impressed

The controller was perfect for my hands, sooemthing I never expected. Ryse was the game of the evening, looking better than any other I've seen and like a Crysis/Spartacus tv show lovechild. Much awesomeness ensued.

Dead Rising 3 was also great fun!

My huge criticism though is Fifa. My player got a Red Card whilst pulling off an amazing challenge getting the ball, but every other hack on purpose got nothing more than a red, be it two footed, flying two footed etc etc. Still, we had a great evening of close matched football!

BF4 was buggy as hell though and we kept getting booted out of the game. No change from the PC version then :p
