**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Quite clearly this was rushed for Christmas! That's why Microsoft waited to see what Sony where going to do regarding release dates back at E3. I am sure they where hoping it would have been in 2014. I would say Microsoft could have done with another 6 months.

But even still I am enjoying the Xbox One experience so far :)!

In that case Sony needs another 2 years to work on theirs, everything I have seen of the PS4 UI looks to be a complete and utter cluster ****.

Im willing to bet MS is sitting back, knowing it can cover the software side of things MUCH better than Sony and will see what people want/ ask for then get to work on those being first in the updates.

Wish I hadn't said all was well now, lol, machine we tinto standby as it would with no activity, I walked infront of it, kinecto powered the machine back into active mode, turn the pad on and the guide button lights up then instantly fades to nothing again.

Can't imagine the batteries being gone as they are rechargables that I know are full!

All in all pleased with the xboxone but it is clear to see it has been rushed, saying that you can see where MS are going with it and I'm looking forward to it future looks good.

Here's hoping Sony's is the same as healthy competition can only benefit the end user :)

My initial reaction from last night, haven't been back on today.

Voice activation

Very hit and miss for me, particularly trying to turn the thing on from standby. Just seems to completely ignore me. When it works its a brilliant way to jump between things instantly, when it doesn't you just feel like a complete pillock.

Controller

Feels very familiar, however I'm not sure on the bumper buttons. I'd never heard anyone really complain about them, they seem more awkward to press now. The ridges on the control sticks seem deeper, and feel like they rub on your thumbs more. Not sure why they changed the names/icons of the start and back buttons. Overall still a nice controller and see what it is like long term.

UI

Feels very unfinished and missing the wow factor. I use Windows 8 at home and at work and quite like 8.1, on the Xbox though it just seems like it is missing a little sparkle. Lack of background for example, it's just all very unfinished. The ridiculous tiny gamerpics for anyone on the 360 is embarrassing.

Games

Loving FIFA as always, enjoying DR3 and getting BF4 Monday. Feels like a small step up at the moment but still noticeable, looking forward for whats to come.

Overall I like it, but it does feel like given 3-6 months more it would have been a lot better. That's not an issue for me really as I'm quite happy to see it evolve. Have had a few errors and crashes so far. Nothing that made the OS unstable but a few annoyances none the less.

Here's my haul

Picked up a ps4 game whilst I picked up an extra pad / play n charge and BF4

PS- language and Kinect working fine in English. Not sure what Albert panello was talking about saying its region locked.

Im probably missing something here but when i say xbox, on...it turns on but my controller doesnt turn on at the same time. Should it turn on by itself when i tell it to turn on?? if so what setting do i need to change in order for it to turn the controller on when the console comes on??.

Unless its not meant to, in that case ignore me.

Loving my Xbox so far, it picks up about 80% of the things I say, but thats probably because I've got an northern accent, a sore throat and it seems swearing at it loudly doesn't help.

Only one problem so far, it got the Xbox on a shelf with my other AV hardware and its about 2foot off the floor, I've got 2 nosey boxer dogs who have in the past 24hours turned my Xbox off for me 3 times... What would be wrong with a normal clicky, pressy button... this touch the light kinda button is just far too attractive to my pets. :(

I vanished for a day and a half to get stuck in as very.co.uk came up trumps and delivered via yodel on time on day one but I'm back with my impressions!

Forza 5: Put the drivatars up 1 level from the default you start with and you'll stop hitting them so much. Trying to get clear of the opponents before starting to race against rivals times really makes every championship race meaningful. I'm getting so many achievements just for doing this and actuively working to get clear after 2 laps so I get a clean lap to timetrial the leaderboards. The graphics are seemingly without and AA but if any pc racing game existed with this much detail I'd be playing it. Better than ANYTHING I can run on my pc including project cars which I'm a junior investor for.
For me the reviewers went off on the lack of tracks and the handling but the handling is sublime, the feeling of sliding into turns and correcting out is fantastic and you rarely if ever spin it. The tracks are more than in Assetto Corsa, Auto Club Revolution and other top racing games I play on pc and are better looking than either of these games on top settings. Quality over quantity is king here.

Fifa 14:
I reckon this is about as good as on other systems but the neat grass textures and crowd improvements make for a very lifelike game. I'd say better than the pc game which I also played.

Dead Rising 3:
I don't understand why people said the graphics werent up to much because they are stunning again compared to even the best pc games. Sure crysis 3 on ultra has better textures and stuff but you only have like 6-7 max units on screen at a time with that. I am sensitive to slowdown and tearing and this game displays none whatsoever contrary to reviews. It clearly is running at 30fps but it feels fine for the pace of the game and literally you climb onto nearby buildings and look around in awe of the sheer scale of the devastation and the army of swarming zombies below. Has some neat scares and I spent maybe 3 hours in one spot just mashing up zombies with a collection of swords because the rpg like levelling up and upgrades system got me hooked. I have to get back to play the game now as it's so addictive and pretty much all the shops/buildings are lootable with loads of collectibles. There is no anti aliasing but there are no games for my pc or any other system where I can do what I do in this game so well, character textures and zombie textures are actually fantastic and detailed.

Powerstar Golf:

On first impression the menus are basic and loading screens really childish like what you might find in an xbox 360 indie title however once in game it's gorgeous. Currently the best looking golf games for any system ever but then there isn't any pc or current gen competition so that's to be expected. Better than everybodys golf world tour and EPIC when you set a world record and everyone gets to see it.

I hereby name this my best launch day purchase ever! I've bought all sega consoles on launch day alongside all nintendo consoles and the 360 plus a ps1 and ps2 but this has 3 solid exclusive games that are all sitting amongst games I'll remember forever. I still wish I could play killzone as it looks ace but I'll have to wait til a payday after xmas for that! Bring on D4 with Kinect (which I'm shamefully enjoying despite being a major hater up until now) and that game the guys over at Remedy are making and we could have a new couple of belters like Catherine on ps3/360 and Alan Wake on 360/pc.

So freaking happy. I didn't feel like this when I got the other consoles.
one thing: don't buy the toyota mr2 in forza it crashes the game lol

My mate walked into game without a preorder. His mate told him how good the xbox one was....so he was dying to get one. He just spent 700 quid for an extra controller, live and insurance with fora and fighter within

Just rang me and seems proper disappointed. Xbox one looks awesome to me but think he over spent and bought the wrong games. I think his mate well overhyped it too.

Controller

Feels very familiar, however I'm not sure on the bumper buttons. I'd never heard anyone really complain about them, they seem more awkward to press now.

I've found the exact same thing. My index finger was hurting like a mofo after playing Killer Instinct for a while last night. It feels like I need to pull my finger further forward to press the bumpers than on the 360. I'm guessing I'll get used to it though..

As for the analogue sticks. I really like the new texture on them but I find my thumbs move around on the sticks more than on the 360. Nothing major, just has a bit of a different feeling.
