If it is faulty the retailer has a legal obligation to sort it out. It is the retailers responsibility to ensure the item operates as intended not Microsofts.

I would personally deal with the retailer unless of course you purchased it direct from MS.

The retailer would replace the whole console, and there stock is pretty hit & miss, the best they could offer is a full refund or waiting for priority stock but it probably wouldn't be a day one hence going back to MS.

I'm a bit bemused that Ryse got such poor reviews when the user opinions I've read seem to be almost completely positive!

Its an expensive console, people are invested in it and want to see it do well. It is nice looking for what it is as well, but it could hardly be described as an open world game so its easy to see why.

Ahh sorry it's just the controller. It's worth noting that any dealings direct with the manufacturer can cause issues later if you need to use the sale of goods act to claim a repair.

Personally I would only ever deal with the retailer but with a lack of stock this can be a pain.

I dont recall Ryse ever being described as an open world game?

mine expired yesterday and I'm still on gold yay they have not worked out how to deactivate it lol

I once forgot my credit card expired, but I still had Xbox Gold for over one month however I then started getting messages once I logged in. So when I finally subbed for another year it reduced it by the time between resubbing and the expiry of the old sub.

So you'll likely never get any days free ;)

My friend had a faulty controller, I actually went in with him to the GAME store he purchased from.

They told him to do directly to M&S, awful CS!

Well I gave in, was looking on gumtree and contacted a guy selling at purchase price, he had already sold it even though his post was only 9 minutes old lol

Anyway, he told me he got it in a local Tesco the day before, so I drove over and asked at the customer service desk and they said they had none showing in stock so I went to the Electricals desk to ask and they said they had plenty so picked one up with a copy of Ryse :)

After spending a few hours messing with settings and downloading a few apps, I tried to watch the tips videos but the buffering is too bad and I see no option to reduce the quality to make it easier on my crappy 2mb BB connection :(
I decided about an hour ago to finally install and play Ryse.....

Well it took over 30 minutes to get to 3%, then said it was ready to play, launched the game and started a new campaign... it then gave me another loading screen and has been slowly installing since!!!!

If it's going to be like this for every game I'll sell it, I only have a 2mb BB connection and this is awful, please tell me other games are not this bad for installing?

I'm disappointed, ZENPinball is out on the PS4 and no sign of PinballFX on the Xbox One. Hopefully it should be along and also allow the import of tables from the 360, if ZENPinball on the PS4 is anything to go by.

I suspect games will get better. The launch titles were largely developed on pre release code and non final XO dev kits so will have required a large update on release. Later titles will be by and large based on finished code and dev kits so should only need a small update.

Maybe you should have started to install Ryse then messed around with apps etc ;)

I think you forgot to preface that the reason it takes so long to get to 3% at the start is that it downloads any available updates first before actually attempting to install the game.

I think day one patches are part and parcel of todays games so something to be mindful of when you install a new game for the first time...

EDIT: Just look at the current-gen consoles which had multiple games with day one patches - I dont think platform maturity is really indicative of the size of those game updates...

The difference is launch titles not only have final game play refinements carried out and added as a patch on first install, they have to cope with the platform having been finalized and potentially substantial changed between sending the games off to be mastered onto DVD and actual release. Once we get past day one platform release the underlying OS changes will be much less of a moving targeting potentially meaning the games themselves will require a smaller update on release.

Given the games themselves will have been sent off to be mass produced onto DVD in excess of a month before release of XO, and that MS have said they were changing things right up until the week before release it's no surprise that day one games required huge updates.

This is likely to be much less of a problem (in terms of release date patch size) with future games being released although of course the lag between being sent to duplication for media and actual release means there will always be release day patches, they're just likely to be much smaller.

Got a link on where this has happened with a XO game? Doesnt really sound that likely, its not like other console UIs havent been rushed to get them ready for launch, just we have more transparency nowadays. I just dont see the connection you are attempting to make, its not like we shouldnt expect a large day one patch for future games (like most EA ones :p), it just seems to rely on circumstantial evidence...

Stock is still a bit sporadic on these, all my local argos have the fifa pack @ 449 yet further afield, none available.

Almost tempted to take a flyer and get one.

Still loads around these parts (Hedge End), although the Sainsbury's near here tannoy announced one in stock and everyone in the store left their trolleys in the aisles and ran to customer service desk...lol

Get one, and CoD of BF4 and then we can finally play online together....

What games we got to look forward to? Titanfall, what else?

Bit fed up with Forza now so haven't turned on the XO for a couple of days. Awesome game at first but just to repetitive with so little tracks and race modes. FIFA just doesn't do it for me as I am pants at football games. None of the other titles look interesting enough to me.

Keep humming and arring at BF4, don't think I'll enjoy though as to much is going off on the screen for my liking. (Well if it is anything like BF3)
