**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

As Christmas is tomorrow, I have a day one edition for my son.

So just to check, does the purchases work the same as the 360?

For example, if I buy the games on my sons Xbox One under my profile, he will be able to play them on his console as well as myself on my own console?

Been holding off on Max and Spartan Assault so we can both have them.

My son plays my Day One Forza 5 Download with no problem, so I guess the answer is yes. It's got some strange issues if other people with accounts come and sit down on the sofa during a YouTube video playback though, mine dropped the playback, logged me out and him in!!

Was looking forward to Halo Spartan Asssault.
Downloaded tonight and had a couple of games and quite like it.

Started playing around with some of the load outs and noticed I need XP and CR to buy different weapons.
So I've racked up some XP but now need CR. I notice that CR can be bought... Micro-transaction-Soft strike again.
Please don't tell me this is the only way to get CR?

I am really being put off the XBox One currently. Even if this isn't the only way to get CR, it also appears you can use CR to buy 'boosts' - increased score being a particularly dodgy looking example.
So that presumably means leaderboards are topped by the people paying the most money?

I'll be really disappointed in supporting them with this purchase if it's really how it looks at first glance. Should have read up on it more I suppose.

MS are taking gaming down a path it should not go IMHO.
Leave the in app purchases to Fremium.

It's not a good thing but it's not only MS doing it.

It's the beginning and the only way to stop this happening is stop buying or playing the games. This is what gamers should be raging against, not whether you can rent a game or not.

They are all doing it, PVZ2 came out and was a good balance. The game was free but you could buy extra plants and power ups to help. You didnt need too but could if you wanted. This clearly didn't make them enough money so they launched an update promising a better layout etc. Not telling you they have made the game 10x harder so the practically force you to buy power ups. Game ruined. You are swamped with zombies to the point the levels are impossible without hitting premium stuff.

Over time this gen, more and more of that stuff will come out. They aren't happy with £40 per game, they need to find ways to bleeding more money without putting games up to what they should be based on inflation.

I'm actually annoyed that I bought it, because this does in effect support the practice. I absolutely will never buy the credits.

In free games I can understand the practice of micro transactions, they have to make money somehow on the game.

In purchased games it is only acceptable to me if it's compartmentalised somehow. FIFA is a reasonable example of this with the Ultimate Team stuff.
You don't have to partake but can spend the money if you want to.

This thing in Spartan Assault is an insult, literally buying credits to give yourself a higher score on the leaderboards.
As far as I can tell there is no way of measuring your performance like for like against people playing the same was as you without paid boosting.

Is it not XP or CR? I haven't tried to upgrade anything yet but I wouldn't mind that so much. If you can only upgrade via micro transactions thats pretty ridiculous.

Why do you care about leaderboards?

I have not got the game but I imagine you can earn everything without paying for it earlier.

Because they are part of the game, add longevity and act as a benchmark of how you're doing.
Strange question, tbh.

I'm sure you can complete the game but not on a level playing field unless you pay it seems.

It doesn't appear to be. Let me know if you seem different. To equip certain weapons it looks like you need XP and CR.
I'm sure you can complete the game without spending more money but it looks like you won't have parity in the leaderboards.

So, can I download Forza 5 and Fifa 14 tomorrow while playing other games online?

Or does it stop active downloads when online?

How long should I expect for each game to take to download? On 35mb connection here!

According to the game I need 50, 75 and 100 credits respectively for the sniper rifle, spartan laser and rocket launcher so your quick Google is wrong.
Credits are bought with real money.

Yes you can use real money to buy credits, but you can also use XP earned in game to buy items.

I have the game, you can get everything with XP. Isn't the Spartan laser something like 1000XP?

Can't check, in work.

Nope. Not unless something changes in game. The only way I'm able to get the alternative weapons is by trading XP and CR. I did think it was an XP or CR at first but it says I have insufficient credit when I try it, even though I have enough XP.
You got the Xbox One version? If so try and let me know.

Well looks like I'll be eating humble pie for dessert tonight.

It seems I can now purchase the other weapons. I can also now get 'one free use' of certain weapons based on achievements from Halo 4! This wasn't there earlier. Not played Halo 4 for a long time so don't know why that suddenly changed...

Still not comfortable with the pay to get ahead on the leaderboards, but as long as it's possible to grind and match the payers then fair enough.

yeah. should take a couple of hours for each of those games to download roughly and if you have other physical copies of games you can put them in and play them while those digital copies download.

I believe at 10-15% downloaded you can start forza 5, however its just an intro piece that shows you what the setup for racing is like etc. not really allowing you purchase a car and go straight into the game.
