**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

I just hope an adaptor is released so I can use my existing headset to talk to friends. Or I could just get a PS4 which does have a normal stereo headset jack.

In the external hdd issue, has it been confirmed that any external drive or pen drive will work with xbox1? Considering how closed ms is making the new xbox i would be surprised if you didn't have to buy offical drives at ms prices, 360 hdd any one?

It also aims to be a pvr, my sky+ box has a terabyte hard drive so, yes MS have really thought this one out.

Does it? I actually haven't seen anything about PVR functionality mentioned so far, and I can't really see much need for it to act as one anyway, if you've got Sky or cable or whatever, you've already got a box with a HDD.

They said the USB3 port should work with standard external drives although I can't find the quote at the moment

That would defeat the entire purpose of a proprietary connector, so no, that won't happen. MS would shut down anyone who released such an adapter.

So you don't have a clue why it's been implemented then, and rather than finding out, make up rubbish.
Ah well at least you're in good standing with most of this thread.

On top of that, it's not like they can stop people making adapters.

On the other hand, the proprietary format could offer significant improvements to the chat audio experience. The new data port reportedly supports stereo audio, potentially for the purpose of delivering game audio directly from the controller or simply boosting mono chat audio in the current-gen to stereo. In the case of the latter, stereo chat audio could lead to virtualized directional communications, allowing players to hear where a nearby player is speaking from — a feature currently found in PC titles like ARMA 2.

So it's hardly a chnage for chnage sake, it's adds a much more powerful and relism features.
Thought you guys wanted cutting edge stuff? Or maybe not then.

At last! A stereo connector for headphones! Thank you MS for inventing such a thing. I can't believe it's taken until 2013 for headphones to be capable of doing stereo...

Keep drinking the MS Kool-Aid Glaucus. We all remember the Win8 threads where you said "anyone who doesn't switch to win8 is a moron." ;)

Lol it doesn't say a stereo connector for speakers.
It's also not what MS has said, as MS hasn't said a lot. It's what people in the field are suggesting its use to be.
Like the rest of it we will have to wait for e3 for ful details.

And way to take stuff out of context

The quote you posted was very clear. The only suggested 'improvement' was stereo audio out (from the controller). You don't need a proprietary connector to do that, as we all know.

So your snarky (and insulting) comments are not justified, and just highlight your pro-MS bias (as if we needed more evidence of this!)

Why would anybody need stereo voice chat? It's a useless feature in virtually every game I can think of.
Imagine the embarrassment of touching the penis of your team mate but going for the wrong one, I can see this being invaluable in games like COD, especially if you want to avoid bestiality in the new one...

And AcidHell2 stop contradicting yourself, if you pull up others for not using decently sourced opinions, then maybe dont quote quotes that you yourself have conceded isnt much more than speculation...

ps3ud0
