**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Seems like so many websites are rooting for MS to fail, some of the coverage is so pro-Sony you'd swear it was sponsored. Not sure if it's leftover angst from E3 or just that hating MS is still the cool thing to do.

I'm no MS fanboy and they've made mistakes but in terms of games they have a better line-up in my view as other than possibly Infamous there are no PS4 exclusives that appeal to me as much as XB1 titles.

It'll never happen. Xbox is Microsoft's most important brand after Windows and being the centre of every living room is MS's plan. What better way to do this than with the Xbox brand.

Have they even made money on the two consoles in total so far? It doesn't look likely that they will build on the numbers of the 360 either with this sham of a launch.

How many consoles should they make funded by other parts of the company?

The console funds other parts of the company. They don't make anything on the console hardware itself (maybe even a loss), but that is not how the xbox makes its money. It's all the stuff that goes with it.

Sham launch? The new console isn't even out yet. What are you on about. Also, it's not a sprint, this is a marathon. These consoles will likely be around for a decade and according to retailers is the biggest console preorder ever.

I can't comment on what profit they have made, but they have come a long way and appear to be having more success with the Xbox brand than Windows Phone or Zune.

Microsoft is in a better position than Sony. It was only earlier this year Sony had to sell one of its most prized Tokyo office buildings to repay debt.

They may make a loss to begin with but they will make a profit from the consoles later in their life cycle when the hardware is cheaper to manufacture.

Jesus, how many Xbox's do you have in your house? I have two, one in the living room, and one in my computer room upstairs, and I get by just fine with one Gold subscription.

If you only have two Xbox One's in the future, you should only need one Gold subscription. You can set your living room console (or whatever) as your "Home" console, and everyone who uses that can use Xbox Live Gold, irrespective of whether you're signed in or not. You can then use your other account on your second Xbox One, and still get all the benefits of Live.

It's a positive change, yet it's not enough for you?

Sorry bit late, so if I get two xbone or a xbone and a 360 and only one account, we can use both xboxes for netflix etc at the same time? Without one getting kicked.

The slightly crazy Steve Smaller is due to leave Microsoft in the next 12 months.

lol you mean Steve Ballmer. Or Sweaty Steve as i like to call him

You'd think with 15billion to your name, you'd get that sweat problem sorted out.. As well as a toupee.. oh and give the XBOX-no one a decent PR launch.

It's going to take me a while to get used to any new controller. My current 360 one has barely any rubber on the left stick and the right one is worn into a nice shape for my thumb. Old, battered but comfy.

The new one does look pretty sweet though, looking forward to the rumble triggers in Forza.

Just notice ShopTo are doing bundles on their website now. Any idea if Amazon will start doing bundles? They are usually pretty good at price matching aren't they.
