I wouldn't be buying it if it wasn't for the exclusive games. If they came out on PC I'd get them on that.
Some more comments from Albert Penello on the relative performance comparissions of the two consoles.
The PS4 will not have the performance advantage over Xbox One that many people seem to believe. That’s according to Xbox strategy boss Albert Penello, who has taken to NeoGaf to correct what he calls some of the “mis-information” that has been poste don the internet.
I don't want to discourage discussion as I'll only be accused of fanboyism again, but do we really need to go over the specs again? Everyone knows that as far as the specs are concerned, the PS4 is the more powerful console. Penello's point, rightly or wrongly, is that the performance gap is closer than the raw specs suggest. He might well be right, he might well be wrong, but thankfully we only have a couple of months to wait to find outNeogaf ripped him apart over his so called tech specs. Just go over there and have a look for your self.
Just wait until the digital foundry comparisons.
Hows about
Xbox One GPU:
768 GCN shader cores with 853MHz
48 TMUs
16 ROPs
1.31 TFLOPS
40.9 GTex/s
13.6 GPix/s
8GB DDR3 with 68GB/s + eSRAM voodoo
2 compute command processors
something between 2 and 16 parallel compute queues
GPU cache bypass: no
PS4 GPU:
1152 GCN shader cores with 800MHz ( GPU not confirmed, could also be more )
72 TMUs
32 ROPs
1.84 TFLOPS
57.6 GTex/s
25.6 GPix/s
8GB GDDR5 with 176GB/s
8 compute command processors
64 parallel compute queues
GPU cache bypass: yes

Damnit, guess I'll just try to pick up a console and Forza from Game on launch day then.
I think some people just want to make sure they're getting the most bang for their buck, so want the more powerful console. Personally, I want the console with the best games. For me and my preferences, that's currently the Xbox One.If these so called differences are going to be things like trees looking more green, which I don't pay attention to in games then I really could care less. Who gives a toss about subtle differences? Do people really pay that much attention to detail when they play?
As long as you're linking specifically to a console gaming item, the link is fineYour lucky day Dureth...seems like Currys still has guaranteed launch stock for the Forza 5 bundle.

Stealth edit: Not sure if Currys is allowed to be posted? Apologies in advance!

Here are his technical points in full:
• 18 CU's vs. 12 CU's =/= 50% more performance. Multi-core processors have inherent inefficiency with more CU's, so it's simply incorrect to say 50% more GPU.
• Adding to that, each of our CU's is running 6% faster. It's not simply a 6% clock speed increase overall.
• We have more memory bandwidth. 176gb/sec is peak on paper for GDDR5. Our peak on paper is 272gb/sec. (68gb/sec DDR3 + 204gb/sec on ESRAM). ESRAM can do read/write cycles simultaneously so I see this number mis-quoted.
• We have at least 10% more CPU. Not only a faster processor, but a better audio chip also offloading CPU cycles.
• We understand GPGPU and its importance very well. Microsoft invented Direct Compute, and have been using GPGPU in a shipping product since 2010 - it's called Kinect.
• Speaking of GPGPU - we have 3X the coherent bandwidth for GPGPU at 30gb/sec which significantly improves our ability for the CPU to efficiently read data generated by the GPU.
“I do want to be super clear: I'm not disparaging Sony,” he added. “I'm not trying to diminish them, or their launch or what they have said. But I do need to draw comparisons since I am trying to explain that the way people are calculating the differences between the two machines isn't completely accurate.
“Hopefully with some of those more specific points people will understand where we have reduced bottlenecks in the system. I'm sure this will get debated endlessly but at least you can see I'm backing up my points.
“I still I believe that we get little credit for the fact that, as a SW company, the people designing our system are some of the smartest graphics engineers around – they understand how to architect and balance a system for graphics performance. Each company has their strengths, and I feel that our strength is overlooked when evaluating both boxes.
“Given this continued belief of a significant gap, we're working with our most senior graphics and silicon engineers to get into more depth on this topic. They will be more credible then I am, and can talk in detail about some of the benchmarking we've done and how we balanced our system.
“I think I've been upfront I have nothing but respect for those guys, but I'm not a fan of the mis-information about our performance."

and announcing PGR5. But it will never happen...

If the specs are as stated when they get released then the PS4 is a more powerful console. But it's the games that make the console and tbh both systems are powerful enough to be a huge leap up from the current offerings.
I have ordered both but I'm looking forward more to the Xbox as the lineup of games is more interesting to me. I'm just hoping its not to long before another Halo comes along.
For me MS could have this in the bag by getting Bungie back for Halo and announcing PGR5. But it will never happen...
I don't think we really need Bungie back for Halo, 343 did an excellent job with Halo 4 and Bungie's efforts were starting to flag a bit with the Halo series.
The sequel to PGR2 would be better; let's just pretend PGR3 and PGR4 never happened![]()
