ah crud maybe it was 3 days late then :( well i booked the week off and im good at shouting at delivery drivers! They better deliver as promised.

That's all well and good mate. If they deliver on time for you fantastic :) it was just for me personally I have no clue who this Very company are and just simply would not trust them to deliver on time.

I've used Amazon for years and never had a problem. Same with Shopto again I would trust them fully. But I would not put faith in an "important" purchase such as a new console for a set date in a company I've never used regardless.

I agree, using places such as Very is just asking for trouble IMO.
 
Very are one of the largest catalogue companies going, Part of the littlewoods group iirc.

I cant believe for one minute that anyone hasn't seen the TV adverts with Holly and Fearne :p
 
Thats just it

they are a catalgoue company, used to selling clothes to women. Not sending out xbox's to angry internet nerds. Nobody is doubting that they will get their order, but the problem is the main part of their business is selling clothes. Thus they won't have the buying power to buy in hundreds of thousands of consoles, because they won't sell them. A small allocation of stock means they will be bottom of the pecking order when it comes to who gets their stock first from microsoft.
 
I would tend to agree. I hope everyone who's ordered from Very gets their console on release, but for me personally, I wouldn't trust anyone but a game shop/Amazon to order my console from, as they will be guaranteed the larger number of units.
 
Yeah Very are part of a massive group; ISME, Woolworths, Very, Littlewoods and K&Co - That's got to be some buying power right their.

I had my pre-order with Amazon initially, but had a 15% voucher issued so that was a turning point, and also that I did pre-order my WII U from them too, which was at my door first thing on release via a personal courier.

I've received an email stating I'm due a day one edition and on release. If I don't receive it they'll be hell to pay.
 
I know how people say the bigger company's should be better but i dont always trust them either GAME online let me down on pre-orders for always late. Amazon are okay but abit hit and miss and before play totally fell apart they sucked at every order.

ShopTo are the only company for me who have been spot on for pre-orders/orders never an issue and if i had to deal with them its been sorted within 5mins unlike the rest i mentioned

I live in Brussels and don't really watch TV anyways soooooo no :p Don't get UK adverts here lol

Also while I would have prefered to have used Shopto they don't post to Brussels.

Amazon on the other hand have never let me down shipping stuff here :) I paid for the one day shipping so I expect it to be here on time and my account and emails I've had say I will get it on day one. I trust Amazon to do it tbh, I've had games shipped using one day shipping from Amazon and got them on release day. Even if it arrives a day or two late I will still be happy especially as the XO isn't being released in Belgium :p
 
For me very was the only choice because I can't actually afford a new console lol. I'm not giving up one of my 780s for it so I'm doing interest free over 3 months.
 
Im stick with very. I dont necessarilly mind if i dont get it release day as its being sent to my parents home 200 miles away anyhow
 
Shop direct have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I highly recommend peeps steer clear. Bought a bedroom set for my son. Took them 3 months to deliver the wardrobe and they also tried to charge me again for it. It wasn't till I got Trading Standards involved as started litigation that they actually responded. Never again

They will draw stock from the groups main distribution centre.

If little woods have stock, so will very.

Catalogues have been selling consoles and console games for decades far longer than Game, Shop to and Amazon.

That's a little naive if you think catalogue companies get last picks. I'm pretty sure there are thousands of parents on low incomes who cant afford to buy an xbox or ps4 out right for their children. they will simply order one over 12 months interest free or the really hard up families will go for 36 months.

kays, very, littlewoods will all use the same stock

I'm not sure if there's any official word on how it's done yet.

I've seen HDMI CEC bandied about. This is the method most TV's use to control Blu-ray players and the like via the TV remote. This has been suggested due to how quickly the box was able to switch channels.

However whilst this is an optional component of the HDMI spec I don't believe any set top box actually implements it yet. And if you did find a 3rd party box that implements it you'd only be able to use it for Freesat or Freeview as I don't believe Sky and Virgin let you use any other box officially.

Another method is the old IR blaster, which would work for any set top box, but would introduce a delay so it wouldn't be able to change channels as quickly as they showed at the launch.

Another unlikely option, at least for Tivo boxes, is network control. As Tivo boxes already have quite an extensive open network remote interface, this is how you can use your phone as a remote for your Tivo box for example.
