Xbox One X

But if you are a Fallout 4 fan then I recommend getting the X1X & the game its a slightly different experience but overall well worth paying for the slightly enhanced visuals & smoother stable FPS.

Well it is a game I will be checking out but I can't believe you're correct about the FPS in comparison to that beast of a PC you have. Digital Foundry's initial report says Fallout 4's framerate on X1X is worse than the PS4 Pro. Whether it got further patches, I don't know.

Fallout 4 had loads of patches since, I really should jump back into that game, I just mess about with mods.

Owen, shocked you not played destiny 2 yet :)

Edit you guys know pubg free to play at the moment?

I am going to be spending the next several 100 hours replaying Fallout 4 again (I already have well over 250 hours on this on PC) with the enhanced patch which makes it look incredible.

I am utterly addicted to this game, i'm currently finishing my fusion powered glass palace complex thing, my wife thinks i am beyond sad (even after I showed her the beauty of my neat power conduit routing)...she knows nothing.

X1X is smooth as butter. PC has micro stuttering with vsync on regardless of high end hardware due to the texture caching & slightly less optimisation. Also you have to remember PC has OS overheads in the background X1X unloads most of that overhead wise. I think the last major PC update was over a year ago. X1X was Nov 2017 plus 9Gb Ram as std means they have been able to optimise more but whether this will be the same in a few 100 hours gameplay remains to be seen! X1X install for GOTY is only 70GB with the Enhanced Patch & Textures PC is 97.5GB so big difference in texture compression as well.

Same!! I love it on PC spent about 250 hours on it now I am hooked again on X1X with slightly better gfx so it seems even better to me as way less annoying gitches & bugs I am going to spend a few 100 hours on all the achvs then carry on with my goal to find all locations (again!). Up to 396 locations on PC but there are also another 100 or more unmarked on the map major locations I even found 3 new locations on the map on PC last week in easy to miss places so much content finding the time to explore is the big issue!!

I have never purchased a disc based xbox game, its cheaper to go digital if you look for deals.
If your not bothered about used or no DLC codes you can pick up most XB1 disc games for around £10 digital is nowhere near as cheap most of the time. MS are very stingy on digital prices always have been.

I have it on PS4 (main) and PC (to mess about).

With the state it is currently in I am very reluctant to get it for xbone as well (despite having D1 on both consoles).

I have to ask. How do you guys play at 30fps? I spent the w/e seeing if I could adjust to 30 fps and FH3, ACO, I got it. But FC5 or any first person shooter for that matter, I just dont get how you can do it. Even with motion blur (which I dont like) might smooth things but when panning its horrible. It almost gives me a headache. And with FH3 and ACO whilst I did start to adjust to 30fps, if I suddenly enabled 60fps it was like coming home.

Not a troll question, I just wish I could fully adjust to 30fps, but cant :(

Honestly, I'm one of those who cannot tell the difference. I can if I'm playing a game at 60 and then purposely restrict to 30 but if I'm playing 30 fps games for a while I just don't notice.

I just think the human eyes adjust to suit to be honest. Coming from PC games at 120+ fps to playing the witcher 3 on PS4 @ 30fps literally makes my eyes bleed - but only for 20-30 mins then my eyes adjust.

That said I notice it far more on FPS games. Playing Doom and then Deus Ex MD for example.

I think 30fps is OK on most games but FPS titles it is more prominent. Its also possibly due to the stick input lag if you are used to raw mouse input on PC but games are getting better at offering stick customisarion. I still can't work the damn things. My head is hard wired mouse and keyboard I think. Brain just can't transfer what's in my head to my thumbs for some reason!

Funny, for me gaming with a gamepad or m&kb is a non issue. I've been gaming for 40 years and during that time I've swapped so many hours between the two that I'm really comfortable with both. These days I prefer controller though (Razer Wolverine is great) Sooo, the gamepad lag is a non issue. Its purely the motion clarity and smoothness perception I think.

Perhaps I'd eventually adjust to Far Cry 5 at 30fps, but it jarred so much that after 20mins I couldn't take it anymore lol Third person stuff like Origins, after a few mins I started to get more comfortable with. I'm pretty sure its how fast paced the game is and how much quick panning is required. As the w/e continued I did start to adjust to 30 fps more and more in general, but yep Far Cry 5 was awful at every step and didnt seem to get easier.

On the frame rate side I have no issues at all with 30fps as long as the frame times are consistent.

The only time I find it jarring is going straight from my pc to any of my consoles. The drop in FPS is immediately apparent but I get used to it quite quickly.

Some more thoughts on 4K Fallout PC vs X1X:

Water FX are superior on X1X to PC by a long way. Translucent & looks very nice at times. On PC it looks very ropey without mods.
X1X loading times are also superior to PC. Most locations stay in memory so if you exit a building it does not even need to reload the outside area its already resident in memory.
Even overall loading times are about 30% faster than PC the delays are a lot less on X1X no more than 10-15 secs.
Shader FX for global lighting is a mixed bag on X1X its a little flat & dull looking at times. PC is way superior on that side of things.
The ingame loading screens with the items revolving around I noticed on X1X are way better. Bethesda have either redone or its the rendering engine running on X1X which has fixed little issues like all the clipping has vanished & the objects no longer have any glitches on them & appear a lot sharper than PC.
I was really surprised to see that X1X draw distance is also better than PC! You can now see a lot further than PC into the vast landscape so once again Bethesda have clearly tweaked that landscape streaming as well.
PC wins on texture pop in distance though. On X1X its pretty weak entire cities pop into view from nowhere on PC it more gradual & less noticeable.
X1X also has superior smoke & fog FX. Its also quite subtle now as the coloured smoke lingers indoors for longer.

Overall I still think X1X is the current best version as its clearly running a much newer tweaked build than PC or just the way X1X renders the game engine is kinder to the content. Not much in this but X1X is IMO ever so slightly better graphically than 4K PC & overall just a nicer experience due to faster loading times & objects staying in memory for longer.

Because I just don’t care about it.

I’m not going to limit my gaming experiences based on what FPS a game runs at.

As above, it’s jarring if I go from my PC to a console but it doesn’t take long to adjust at all.
