Xbox One X

Mines a day one, inside an glass door Ikea Besta cabinet with the door closed and never skipped a beat.

I call shenanigans- I’ve also got mine in a besta with the glass doors and had to mod a 120mm fan in the cabinet to cool it. Had it on the low fan setting for a while and was ok (though nowhere near as silent as the 1S was). Wolfenstein 2 though absolutely melts it, overheated and shutdown repeatedly. I’ve had to turn the fan up now and it’s pretty noticeable but at least keeps it cool’ish.

Without the fan the 1X is loud enough to be noticeable in the besta. With the fan on low it was fine with all games except for Wolfenstein 2... oddly that seems to absolutely rape it.

honest Indians (can I still use that phrase?)

only ventilation that 'cube' has is the hole I punched through for 'cable management'. PS4 Pro top shelf, XbX 2nd and games on the 3rd with odds n sods on the bottom.

The surround system usually set to 30 (Onkyo).

The only one I hear is the PS4.

Lol now I know you’re fibbing! PS4 Pro literally explodes when inside the besta cabinet with the door closed! I’ve had to put it on top to stop it sounding like a hoover.

Actually now that I think about it, the reason I had to move the Pro to the top was that when on the bottom middle shelf (where I don’t have doors) it was overheating and unbearably loud!

I wish they'd do something with the dashboard on the X it's terrible, cluttered with adverts that you can't remove and painfully slow and annoying. I know they don't want to allocate much resources to it but surely it can be improved over the current state.

This has always been a bit issue for me with Xbox platform as a whole

Does anyone here regularly play Ghost Recon? It's got another year of free content planned so I'm tempted to give it a proper go.

Tried AC ORIGINS but it's just not fun for me

The original 360 dashboard was the best. Now its also plagued with ads like the Xbox One.

Soon we are going to need ad blocks on our consoles.

PS4 is just as bad, Nintendo got it right with the Switch, dashboard is basic, simple, quick, no messing.

+1 couldn't agree more.

I always tend to burn out on GTA games and I don't think I've ever completed one. RDR took me a couple of tries but I am glad I stuck with it as it has one of the best endings ever. I don't have an X nor a 4K TV but yes indeed good news for anyone who hasn't played it before or simply wants to revisit.

It's a patch which runs the game at Native 4k, which is a lot more impressive than running the game at 720p and then your TV 'upscaling' to 4k

This is Digital Foundrys take on the method they generally use.

Microsoft's 'Heutchy Method' - named after the engineer that devised it - increases resolution by a factor of three on both axes, meaning that the original native 720p game renders at the top-end 3840x2160 on Xbox One X. As usual, the emulator employs negative LOD bias to ensure that the highest quality mip-maps are deployed for additional detail.

16x anisotropic filtering helps resolve soupy ground textures in particular

The above actually relates to Forza: Horizon and 'Crackdown' but the technique is usually the same.

Who would have ever thought 8 years ago that it would be the Xbox and not a PC that first got to play the game in 4K :)

Really surprised they never released it on PC actually. Essentially it's a slightly updated version as GTA IV and that worked ok on PC.
