Xbox One X

The games are built around gamepads so they will always have an advantage. You cannot just use a kb + mouse & gain an advantage it does not work that way lots of dev time is spent on controller latency & optimising FPS to controller latency & gameplay.

It's still easier to aim with a mouse. Twitching for headshots and tracking targets etc. Even with auto aim side taken away. The only way I can see using a pad being superior, or at least competitive, is if the m&k side of things is implemented poorly.

You will still get owned the games are built to have the aim assist even disabling it does not help as latency is directly tied to the code. The platform holder never allows anything to give an unfair advantage so if it does work out better they will just gimp it somehow anyway! MS conducted some testing a few years ago PC mouse +kb vs Xbox 1. The PC players had such an advantage MS did not spend anymore resource equalising the 2 control schemes!

I play Gears 4 daily online with various teams and have done so throughout the series. Gears 4 was the first time we bought it on PC obviously and the differences are quite noticeable when it comes to competitive play.

In an all PC squad vs a console squad matches I can't remember the last time we were beaten by Xbox players. And now that I have the game on the One X, I do not play against PC players while on that system.

I turn off cross play as imo it's not fair for ranked matches. I know very good console/pad players and we have a laugh whenever we see who's in the lobby. There are pad players who love the challenge but we don't expect to lose against any pad team.

I know that's not proof or scientific but it's how it's been for quite a while. The option must be there for players to separate themselves otherwise it will be unfair imo.

Gears is too easy on mouse and keyboard but controller is more fun imo especially with other console only players. Gears on console feels like Gears but not on PC imo. Even by increasing the fov on PC gives the illusion of moving at higher speed. Can't do that on console.

And wall bouncing with a mouse is a lot easier to execute than on controller. You can literally dodge shots with the mouse and spacebar.

Edit: This is what I originally wrote above but after talking to a good Gears player I have come to the conclusion that if the option comes to console then the advantage potentially can disappear as everyone now has the option to play with the same input device which makes it a slightly more level playing field.

The only snag that I can see is that some players might not be willing or unable to use mouse and kb. This is a complexed topic.

But I still say the mouse and kb is a more precise input device that can give an advantage to a player.:D

I wonder what percentage of Fortnite players on console play with a mouse/kb. I bet very few. So even if the option is there, only a small percentage would ever use it. Most consoles are in the living room/bedroom with a TV and people are curled up on the sofa or lying on the bed. Not very good for using a mouse/kb unless you're good at balancing things on your knees.

I think in the case of Fortnite the numbers would be low, a lot of people who play Fortnite play with what they have and do not even realise that they could use a keyboard and mouse, I didn't know you could but I don't really play fortnite.

I think if you have a supported device, marketed by MS it would almost certainly appeal to the more competitive crowd ie COD, BF etc.

Guess we will find out later in the year but for now I remain in the not a good idea camp.

As I get older I'm becoming more and more guilty of not giving games, books, movies the time to make an impression, the wow factor or hook has to be there quite early on or else I just cba. Cuphead is one such example, purchased it near launch , fired it up and just never got passed the tut.

Booted up the Xbone and noticed it sitting there , decided to give it a quick shot and can't put the bloody game down, such a good game, feel such a tit for not playing it sooner.

Anyone ever sent a console back to Microsoft for reapair under the first year warranty ??

I've created a repair for my Xbox one X fans being to loud.

It's given me a ups delivery label which I've printed off.

Do ups collect the console from my house ?

It's not very clear what the next step is ?

Do I have to box it up and take it to a ups depot ??

You either need to find a shop that does ups pickup or phone UPS and quote the reference number for for a house pick up. They will give you a day then.

Also you can't use the original box. Well that's what I was told on me being send a replacement

Literally just gone through this process myself, for the exact same reason (fan noise).

UPS didn't collect from me, I had to take it to a drop off point. Box it up in any box, but don't use the original as the returned item doesn't come in the box you sent.

Don't send any accessories or anything else, also make sure any game discs have been removed!!!

They actually sorted mine out pretty quickly, took less than a week of them receiving it to be back in my hands. It's also significantly better as far as fan noise is concerned!

Xbox 1 Store sale now on until the end of the month. A several games are up to 25% off more if your Gold member (like Austin powers :p )

Some games are bigger discount as well, I ended up picking up COD WW2 Gold edition for 50% off. Single player is actually damn good imo!
