What exactly is wrong with the simple play and charge kit, I have used it since the X was released and my pads hold their charge for ages.
The only thing I can see as to why people would use ordinary batteries is if they wanted to charge a spare set up whilst using another set in their controller. So then when they run out, you can swap them over and continue playing wirelessly. Otherwise you would have to connect via the cable using the play and charge kit. Although if you set your console to instant-on and connect your controller up, you can charge it when you are not playing. There's certainly enough juice in that little battery pack to last an entire day.
I see, I can go a week or more without charging with the play and charge pack, but I don't play everyday, maybe 3 days a week on and off. I found that I can charge my pad with the play and charge kit when my console is off and in energy saving mode.

Oh, maybe that works also. I thought it was like PlayStation and you had to leave it in rest mode to charge up. (It's been ages since I've used Xbox now.)
It's only 1400 mAh and the capacity drops off a cliff after a year or so. I'd been through 2 play and charge kits before I switched to Eneloop. The standard Eneloop are 1900 mAh and after 10 years will still retain 70% capacity.
On a brighter note, I finished Alien isolation on Hard, that game's a masterpiece in my opinion, so good.
missed the beginning, any new announcements?
I've never played a Just Cause game but the new game looks incredibly good fun.
