Yeah but it's not far off. With some good optimization, which is generally lacking on PC titles, they could pull it out of the bag. The games don't necessarily have to run at the Ultra levels of detail.

Its just spiel to generate hype. There is simply no way a console will play full 4k not upscaled at 60fps.....unlesz the price is comparitive to a extremely high end pc with a new gpu with way more power than thats being talked about.

Not sure what to make about this, I'm dubious about the claims of 4k @60fps in an affordable console package. Will Microsoft price themselves out of the tradional console market? The PS4 was successful because it had better specs than the xbox and was cheaper. Does this now kill Xbox one sales as we're only a year away from the next console?
Does Sony even need to respond, they could hit us with actual games for the top selling system and wait another year before even deciding what to do?

It doesn't necessarily have to be affordable to the Joe Boggs public looking for a christmas pressie for little Billy. Spencer said the Scorpio is the console for people like us - gamers 24/7, tech enthusiasts, reviewers, competitors, blah de blah. So they can price it higher than usual, just as the Elite controller is comparatively expensive - practically half the cost of a brand new Xbox. Remember, it's not replacing Xbox One but will an Elite version of it.
the elite controller priced at £120 everyone said never sell but sold out everywhere (i have one)
i can see this console costing £650 ....
i was chatting to few people about xbox, i can't see Microsoft losing out again (software wise already ahead)

They claimed the Xbox One was a 1080p console....it's not so they have form!
THink they will undersell it to be honest, everything will be compatible and games for Scorpio will be made for Xo at the same time etc, backwards and forwards compatibility.
Still a year and half out, any psecs now will have dramatically fallen by then, factor in stupid amounts of manufacturing etc, no Kinect.

If it wants to be the market leader again it does have to be affordable, that is the whole idea of consoles. If specs drove sales we'd all be on PC.
Specs have never won out with consoles. Consoles are successful when they have the right balance of price and performance vs the competition.

this is how I feel atm.
MS have been caught with their pants down for a few years now. management changes have been made. and it finally seems they've been given the authority and money to do what's needed as well as just having a focus now.
cant wait to find out about the VR aspect, as that's what I'm interested in.
also isn't dx12 massively more efficient that isn't in games yet, but will be in 18months.
DX12 wont make a difference on consoles.
they already have low level access to the hardware.
its mainly for pc's
not a chance a console is doing 4K @ 60fps.

Is 6tf around a 980ti in performance? (I know it's apples and oranges but roughly)
If so I can see it doing 4K comfortably on a console. Heck a 980ti can do with a majority of games on PC @ 30-60fps

Take it all with a pinch of salt, we all know it's vapourware till we see the actual product in action, and even then it can be made to look the dogs dangles till us consumers are mugged into the jacked up prices.
It's a bit of a shame that by the time the consoles are powerful enough to provide truly impressive 1080p experiences, 4K is the next big thing instead. Once again they'll be chasing resolution and framerate while the real game-changing stuff like improved AI, physics etc are left behind.
