Xbox Scorpio

If anyone wants to see Major Nelsons un boxing of the Xbone X then tune into YouTube at 0035 or so. (about half an hour from the time of this post.)

The hardware can be as amazing as they want, I've been tempted too many times to buy an XB1S, but what matters most are the games (aka precisely why I don't have an XB1). Sure bringing these games to PC is a good thing, but Scorpio needs something to drive sales besides being the first 4k console. Cos otherwise, I can just save that £500 for a decent GTX1080 for 4k on the PC (or at least close to it, need at least a 1080ti for proper 4k60). And it needs to be something besides 'sports' and 'TV'.

Edit: Damn, that's impressive. I love the name, XOX and the console itself is great too. If they have a limited edition Red XOX console bundled with a Play Anywhere game, I'm going for it.

Really quite regretting my PS4 Pro now... only cost £200 to upgrade after selling my PS4 but it's not particularly any different and is simply far noisier, and makes my psvr a hassle to use now.

I suppose from a MS platform perspective it gives a sofa & big TV option. If you have a decent gaming PC rig then it's not necessarily going to persuade you to change but it certainly moves Windows to the forefront again as the premier gaming platform. It'll be interesting to see the impact of the comparatively relatively underpowered PS4 Pro in 18 months on exclusives and if PC & XBox combined provide the bigger market and more powerful platform.

The Pro still has some amazing exclusives, especially over the past 10 months. Let see what Sony has to offer.

PS4 Pro is still a capable machine. It might not run the games at native 4K like the X but they still look damn good and using chequerboarding can you really tell the difference I know I can't...

Accept for Anthem I didn't see anything that looked better graphically than Wipeout Omega, I'd say the PS4 Pro is a very capable machine :)

So, a very mixed bag of conference for me. As a PC gamer I've been given no reason to to consider a One X at all, or even a One S for that matter. I don't recall seeing a single Xbox exclusive the whole show? All 'launch' exclusives with the majority arriving on PC.

However, the variety of games shown was very refreshing and I am very happy that MS are really sticking to their guns, showing strong support for Windows 10 releases. They're being very clever and could really take advantage of a big market on the PC platform if they carry on. It doesn't make sense for me to pick up an Xbox at the moment, but give it a few more years when this MS brand/cross platform play has really grown, then it starts to become a no brainer to pick up an Xbox over the Sony/Nintendo competition when I come to replacing the sofa entertainment.

Interesting and exciting times ahead.

You say a what now. Omega looks ok but hardly a showcase. Horizon Zero Dawn and Uncharted 4 look better by a fair bit....

i think as Microsoft "Play Anywhere" becomes the norm for more 3rd party titles an XBox will make increasing sense for PC gamers to compliment the PC when you want to play your games from the couch on the TV without having to re buy them.
