There's this blurb on the Xbox site -

Your 24-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership is delivered directly to your console. Redeem it during initial console setup or later in the Settings app.

To redeem during initial setup:

  • As you set up your new console, you’ll be prompted to redeem the Digital Direct offers that come with it. If you decide not to redeem them then, the offers remain on the console until they’re redeemed.
To redeem after setup in Settings app:

  • Select Settings > Account > Included with this Xbox to see an overview of and redemption status of any Digital Direct offers included with your console.
  • Press the Xbox button  to open the guide, and then select My games & apps > See all > Full Library, and then look under Available offers to see your offers.
No mention of any time limit to redeem there.

And then there's this

Maximum 36 months of redeemed Xbox Game Pass Ultimate per account at a time, including any converted time from Xbox Live Gold and/or Xbox Game Pass (for PC or console). In the event that the conversion ratio results in more than 36 months being available to you, Microsoft will refund you the value of any additional time.

This PS5 debacle is making me worried I'm gonna miss out on a Series X, despite the fact I will be sat on my Pc ready to go from 7:45 lol.

I'm thinking the most likely place to secure an X1X is probably directly from the Microsoft site. I expect most people will just go to Amazon and Game. What do you guys think?

Yeah, I like that idea. I'm thinking I might use my MS Reward points to knock some money off the console price instead of using them to get the 1TB SSD and therefore buy it from the Microsoft Store. I'm not 100% keen on having 2 years of monthly payments. Especially if there's periods when I might be gaming on the PS5/PC and never touch the Xbox for a month or two. I'd be paying for Game Pass Ultimate for nothing then.

Will just order from MS store or Amazon not really in any rush certainly not going to be going mad to get one. MS said there will be lots of stock coming throughout November so no problem waiting a week or so if needed. One X will suffice until one turns up.... lol

I don't think I'm going to pre-order. Put a pre-order in for the Quest 2 yesterday, so I might wait. And I'm still undecided between Series X and Series S anyway. I'd like to see some side-by-side comparisons of the two consoles versus Xbox One/One X and maybe PS4/5.

One curve-ball option in the outright vs AA debate: my Quest 2 pre-order was through a retailer offering 0% APR for 24 months on PayPal Credit. Chances are, the new Xbox consoles will be available on the same offer. If so then there's an opportunity to save some money if you can get Game Pass at a decent discount.

Interesting, which retailer?

I wonder if the standalone will come with any sort of gamepass deal?

Someone in the thread earlier mentioned that a MS live chat person confirmed there would be, but there is nothing about it so far.

Some footage of Dort 5 running on the Series S.
Looks to be a solid 1440p @60 fps. Some people claiming its not possible given the specs. Who's laughing now.

It looks okay but I'd agree with Buckster that it looks like an XB1X game to me, no harm in that as the Series S is aimed at getting you next gen titles with mid-gen graphics for a lower price point.

I'll be there for day 1 pre-order regardless but PS5 certainly seems to have better titles to showcase next-gen right now. Hopefully that'll change a bit post-launch and frankly I'll be happy in the short term just playing some of the game pass titles I've missed out on (as well as Cyberpunk, AC:Valhalla, etc).
