99% of people, I had a 1080p TV in 2006 (BBC HD trials/BBC/ITV World Cup was only content) many did not even know what HD was then we were stuck with live TV @ 720p for long long time.

Even now some services (NowTV) only going 1080p and 4k is here now as nearly all cheap larger LCD TV's are 4k to push it but best of luck on your Xbox running 4k at decent frames never mind 8k and best of luck finding a 8k TV and affording it.

How is it nonsense, I said at "decent frames" and you then admit its 30FPS <

I know a console is static hardware (closer to the metal) so easier to code but if a 2080Ti OC'd to hell cannot do it nor can a console (I am talking good FPS and decent setting not no AA and medium etc).

I think you are dreaming, why not stick to trying to do 4k then worry about 8k in the future by which time this new console will be replaced.

The thing is that last gen they kept banging on about games being 1080p and a lot couldn't do 1080/60. This gen they keep saying 4k and very few console games run 4k/60 and now they're saying 8k. My guess is that we won't see any 8k/60 games next gen. I'd rather get 4k and a stable 60fps.

Let me start again.

I'm not saying anything about next gen games running at 8K. My post said about the possibility of running Xbox 360 games at 8K.
As for 4K60 next gen, I don't see why not. Developers will have new tools at their disposal like Variable Rate Shading, Variable Refresh Rate as well as old ones like dynamic resolution and temporal AA. It might not be native 4K60 on paper but only Digital Foundry will be able to tell.

With the XSX being able to support 8K displays do you think it will have enough juice to run the Xbox 360 games at that resolution?

Absolutely. Though I will say that they won't do that and what they mean when they say 8K is simply upscaling capability for 8K TVs. Nothing more.

I've really enjoyed the Xbox One X and will get the new one once it's out I would imagine. I enjoyed all the multi plats that I'd missed being PC-less (Witcher3 fallout 4, Deus Ex, RFD2, Metro Exodus) so couldn't care less about console exclusives really. I even tried the keyboard and mouse support on Metro, whilst annoying on the sofa, it still worked well. I certainly don't miss the constant messing about and money waste that having a PC caused.

I'd take one proven Sony studio over any of those, kind of says it all?

Exactly, same here.

Sorry i don't mean to take the pee but seriously?

Agreed. Microsoft are all 'this is the worlds most powerful console' but they don't have the games to back it up, and it'll be EXACTLY the same next time.

Spot on that man :)

Sony already have next gen tied down with the follow-up belters you've mentioned, and they surely have more up their sleeves, and MS haven't even caught up from last time.

I used to love xbox but it became complacent, boring, predictable, and lazy. I can't see them ever recovering from that.

I'm reading into you not being much of a MS fan? Admittedly, yes the Xbox One as a console has been abit of a disaster but with GamePass and being the most powerful console it's helped soften the blow for their sales... but there is no hiding the exclusivity issue. However, reading your message, you've been incredibly dismissive of everything they've done to try and turn it around.

They've bought a large number of studios, if 1 or 2 of them puts out a banger then the XBox may just be the one people go for... right now I agree with your first comment, yes, I would take 1 proven Sony studio over that list, but you cannot immediately come to the conclusion that all these studios won't output good games.
So to say "Agreed. Microsoft are all 'this is the worlds most powerful console' but they don't have the games to back it up, and it'll be EXACTLY the same next time." is rather short-sighted considering they've addressed the major issue of no first-party developers.

Yup, plus Phil even said they have shown off the new Xbox now because E3 is gonna be super busy for them, which is read into as them showing off a ton of new games plus the other console.

I can't see this console doing what MS want it to do i.e. expand their market. The brand is strong in US/UK, everywhere else not so great.

A lot of customers are tied into ecosystems now and many won't want to jump ship and leave all their games behind on a platform they already play on.

It'll sell to the Xbox customer, but not much beyond that demographic.

Really hoping MS spends some time improving their software and UI for the series x. The PS UX is so much nicer and is a really big selling point for me.

Im expecting they'll be basically using an updated version of the Windows Xbox app, which I really can't say I'm a fan of.

Have they even said anything about software yet that I may have missed?

I might get better with it over time I suppose. Familiarity is a funny thing. I just wish there was a bit more focus on user experience rather than just how many teraflops a system has.

I'm not 100% sure but doesn't the Xbone use Windows 8 and now 10 as its core? I think the Series X will be using Game/Core OS which is the next generation Windows. So it should be quicker in that regard but then there's whatever UI they lay on top of it.

But it will have to be snappy if you can have three games paused simultaneously and do all the usual things like capture video.

Always gets like this around this time. It's never about anything other than which one is faster/better. When we do actually know exactly what we're getting from MS and Sony - that's when the real fun begins.
