What are the output settings on the Xbox set to? And also, what is the capture device capable of accepting as an input? The HDTVtest video posted a page or so ago highlights some of the differences with the output from your Xbox that depend on what settings you choose. This could be causing the banding you see.

Anyone else’s Series not updating games in stand by? I’m set to “instant on” and the options to keep the console and games up to date are both selected yet games don’t update :/

Really impressed by Series S so far. COD runs and looks amazing on 4K TV.

Roll on a Doom eternal Patch. Didn't realise Xbox 360 games were upscaled to 1440P with auto HDR and FPS doubled to 60FPS https://www.gamespot.com/articles/h...ance-backwards-compatible-games/1100-6483246/. Makes backwards compatible games amazing again. Playing through Gears 3 and Alice.

Can't secure a new gen GPU so looking like I'll play Cyberpunk on Xbox Series S too.

At £250 can't fault it tbh.

Is there a list of games enhanced for the Series S?
From reading it would appear many run the XB1s versions
I have a series s arriving shortly and want to try out something that will run 1080p 60fps

It's all very confusing

Any recommendations for quick download games I can get to try / test mouse and keyboard usage?

Plugged in dongle both front and rear slots and keyboard seems to work fine in dashboard and Jedi fallen order, but mouse not registering at all?

so after something people knows works to test, or any other suggestions? Cheers!

All Xbox and Xbox 360 games are enchanced with upscaling, auto HDR and double the FPS.

Xbox One games run the standard 'Xbox One or Xbox One S' version with higher FPS and resolution enhancment where available.

Xbox Series X/S games have specific patches to enable better visuals and performance etc. Some games we are waiting on patches for like Doom eternal, and Cyberpunk will get a next gen patch next year sometime.

I thought doom eternal was updated days ago?

It is showing as x/s enhanced. Started playing days ago after this showed as enhanced - not for that reason, but was getting to it anyway.

I never played it before, so couldn't say if anything is different.

I'll check this later, thought it was coming next year.

No need to. I know you're wrong. :p

But I was wrong in my initial post - Fallout 4 (the only game to have frame doubling) is an Xbox One game, of course.

Yup, I'm afraid it isn't all games @Boomstick777 It will only be select titles; as per a quote;

"To show off this new feature, the post includes a video of Fallout 4, which was previously locked to 30fps on consoles, running at 60fps. This feature won't be enabled for all games; Lo says it only works with "select titles"."

Gears 1-3 seem locked at 30fps unfortunately. I'm too used to 60 now.

The remastered Halo games are glorious. I'm hooked on ODST, will probably finish it this week and then onto Reach. Cyberpunk can wait while you all test it for me :p

The matriarch boss in Gears 5....OMG that was something!

Games require patching first. Then 60 FPS, enhanced visuals etc are added. Give them time bois.

"We designed the Series S to enhance the Xbox One S games in a way that the Xbox One X can't do," system architect Andrew Goossen tells us. "We made it easy for existing Xbox One S games to be updated to run with double the frame-rate when played on Series S as well. When games are updated

the 'OG' machine - we've confirmed that Xbox Series S will run these games at an enhanced resolution. There's a 3x boost to resolution on both axes, meaning that titles targeting 480p on the original machine will hit a maximum of 1440p on Series S, presumably with a range of performance benefits. The good news continues with the enhanced Xbox 360 titles that were released for Xbox One X. These games will also be enhanced for Series S, this time running with a 2x2 resolution multiplier, bringing titles that ran at native 720p up to 1440p

The way you said "Any 30fps game is doubled" read as if it's standard across all games from the off, as if it were a standard feature with B/C games, when it isn't. It's currently 1 game. Who knows how many will actually end up with a patch that doubles the fps. I don't see many getting that specific treatment to be honest.

Oh I see what you mean, yeah I am typing and working. Didn't have time to go into details.

Yeah if you read those articles I linked the potential is there for great backwards compatible enhancements. Seeing how well they patched games for Xbox One X. Hopefully the Series S/X will also get great support.

Really impressed with the lil console so far. Although I yearn for an RTX 3080 as well ...

Just ran Doom eternal is def not had a next gen patch yet. I think it's coming sometime next year..

Same situation as myself. The series X is keeping my desire for a RTX 3080 at bay thankfully, because I'm not paying above rrp for the 3080!

Bagged myself a Series S from Microsoft Store. Knew I'd cave eventually :D

*shameless plug* Just need to shift my Switch now. Preferably before the Xbox arrives, as I justified my purchase of the Quest 2 on the basis I would sell the Switch. If I've bought a second console and still not sold the Switch, questions are going to be asked :p
