Just got my Elite V2 replacement from Microsoft. Unsurprisingly the hardware design flaws are still glaring but at least the left stick has less free play, even if the right stick and dpad are still atrocious.

If the buttons work correctly I’ll just keep this one and fix the hardware design flaws myself.

I read you can change the tension? On the top left stick was the review I watched...

Dirt 5 is running at 120fps on maximum image quality mode on my 1440p monitor apparently.

I didn't expect that, I'd read that the console would down res the 4k version of the game and run at 60fps.

Hope that is a sign of things to come.

If there is mouse and keyboard option for Xbox surely the elite controller is redundant? Driving games are better with a wheel so not really sure what else you would need it for?

I messed about with my old Xbox one controller putting in tighter sticks and stick extenders which did help a lot but 5 minutes with a mouse is like day and night.

Thanks for the replies all, it's tempting. Thinking about it a bit more

For me its absolutely fine and am very happy with my purchase, my complaint is really the controller been of poor quality. Vesperia runs better than on my ps4 pro for reference. The zen2 really showing its class vs the mobile jaguar cpu. Vesperia load times also match my pc, again much better than ps4 pro. The value is extremely good in my opinion. What you getting for £250 in todays market is a minor miracle.

It is slightly less width than my xbox360 slim, but the depth is noticeably less (doesnt go back as far).

Also my cabling is much tidier now, previously I had a bulky power cable at back of the 360, a bulky vga cable, which also had sound cable split offs to feed sound to PC, all this is out of my spider web of cables now.

Thanks, I think I'll either wait for this to be cheaper second hand or grab a PS4 slim (also second hand), if they drop to like £100. Although I head your warning about the CPU, this is tempting because I can stream my PS5 to it.

I’ll shut up then ;)

The tension only impacts the sticks once the springs start to resist. The free play is the distance the stick can move before the springs activate.

2-3 mm total play like I had on my Elite V1 is normal, but this is 6 mm.

At least the face buttons work now so I can mod this controller to fix the dpad and sticks.

Got you, I’m now having second thoughts about the Elite V2 so may return it and get a decent wireless keyboard & mouse for FPS

Ooh, Gears 5 runs at 120hz at 1440p as well. I thought it would be 4k downscaled at 60hz?
Hi which monitor are you using with the Xbox? I'm on the hunt for a monitor that'll work with my Series X and PS5.

It’s a shame that the PS5 doesn’t support 1440p as that limits your choices.
Some of the monitors I've looked at (IE Dell S3220DGF, Samsung G7 and Benq EX2780Q) will accept a 4k signal it's just displayed at 1440p and I'd be able to run 1080/1440p @ 120hz for Xbox. But your correct, if Sony updated the PS5 to support 1440p natively it would help.

I recorded these clips a couple of days ago but forgot to post, the first one is with HDR on (clip is taken from OBS so no colour mapping hence over saturation, second is SDR, note how banding is very bad on the HDR clip (same on direct monitor), I suspect 10bit colour isnt working even when selected. I plan to retest this when I plug in a hdmi 2.0 cable to the 2nd port on the monitor bypassing the capture device (which might be limited to 8bits). Ideally I wouldnt mind someone with 10bit working to test this, to see if it even fixes it. You have to let a game idle for 20 minutes before the screen dims. There is banding on the SDR as well but its way less severe to the point I only noticed it when looking for it.
