I'm hoping many games have a 1440p120 option, as 4k resolution cannot be resolved by the human eye and most people's viewing distances but 60 -> 120 fps is a very noticeable change.

I think that could happen, especially on Xbox as they are making a song and dance about 120fps and every bit of input latency would count there. But with those techniques I mentioned, dynamic 4K120 with VRR could even be a thing. It's a shame there are such things as development times and budgets that scupper ambitions. Interesting times ahead for sure.

Still not decided on what console to get, likely the SX, just feel like with all the new studios MS have bought they could have some nice games in the future. Will there be another Microsoft event showcasing the series X and new games?

There's the big first party event in July. I'm really interested to see what "The Initiative" are doing.

I have a substantial amount of points that I am saving for payment towards the XSX.

This is also my plan but I think the £5 for 5050 will come around again nearer launch. I think it was only 4 or 5 months since the last one. And you can also do it when the Xbox gift card comes up as well.

The problem is with any of the promotional offers, you stand to loose the credit within 90 days of depositing it.

I suppose it depends on how long you are willing to wait after the XSX launches... just in case in takes until March 2021 for example, for the offer to re-appear. I'm not sure I could wait that long to buy the console but then I'd use the reward points for something else like a second controller or maybe they will be selling the 1TB SSD expansion carts on the store. I don't think it would go to waste. Worst case scenario is convert them to Argos points (taking a 50% value hit) and buy the console from there.

Series S rumours just won't go away.

report out couple hours ago says a leaked Microsoft document points towards the Series S specs.

The unannounced series s has 8gb of gddr6 memory, 4tflop gpu and 3ghz amd zen 2 cpu. Performance target is 1080p 60fps

So that should be about £249 worth of gear as it's about the same as Xbox One X, I should imagine.

If it is anything like the mockups (half the height of XSX) then I guess it has external power brick as well. I think that component lies on the other side of the Blu-ray drive.

EDIT: Or not. Power supply seems to be opposite side of the vapour chamber.

Can/will Xcloud be able to stream Xbox One games to PC?

Eventually. Phil was seen testing a Windows 10 version of XCloud on his Xbox Live profile. I suspect they might wait until 2021 when the server blades have been upgraded with Xbox Series X. I don't think many PC gamers will be happy with 720p streaming of Xbox One S stuff, it looks horrendous on PlayStation Now on Windows.

Game runs at 4K 60fps. For reference, a RTX Titan gets 60-65fps at 4K max settings in this game. So it seems that in Gears 5, at least, the Series X is more powerful than anything else on the market today (bar SLi rigs).

This console is an absolute beast.

It was very interesting watching that Unreal/Coalition stream last night. 60fps really does not come lightly and we can't accuse devs of being lazy by "not optimizing" for 60fps, I think. I was like "take my money" after watching!
