It's it bad the most exciting thing I have seen on the Xbox is the share button on the controller?

What would you have liked to have seen?

Well to be fair, he said "it WILL go the same way" which is right in a few years time. The PCs will be doing ray tracing things that these new consoles can't do. But I'd rather have a system that lasts six or seven years than having to keep adding parts to a PC. That's one lesson I've learned since buying mine. It's 2 years old and already feels out-of-date.

But if they do a mid-gen refresh again, then my point goes out the window.

I would quite like to see what Apple could do with the user interface. I don't know whether an Apple TV-like interface would work as I've never used it. But it looks purdy and clean.

Have you not seen the Nintendo switch? It would be precisely that interface.

Now you know I have this thing about Nintendo. I haven't seen the Switch UI. But I'll go and have a look.

Just watching Spencer on the IGN Xbox show and the more he talked about the Customer, I think they’ll go £450 for the Series X or merely match what the PS5 will be.

I think they’ll take the loss to get people buying the “Most powerful console”.

I also noticed he mentioned dateS when talking about console launches. Perhaps Series S will be revealed as well at some point.

Isn’t the Xbox OS based on Windows? Can’t be that complicated surely especially for developers with PC experience.

Yeah but the way that fella was going on, you'd think Xbox had the whole Windows OS running. It only has "Game Core" or something which is an efficient, stripped down version. Set to get even more streamlined for the Xbox Series X.

They just spoke about stuff already known it turned out. Velocity Engine mainly.

I hope they remaster the other Gears of War games, it was such a shame they didn't get updated. In particular I'd love to see Judgement with the highest textures & some better lighting. The level design artistically was probably the best in that one compared to all the others.

Me, too! Or at least port them to PC. But unbeknown to Xbox, those missing Gears games (2, 3, Judgement) as well as some other games like Viva Pinata, Kameo, Red Dead Redemption are going to get me to pick up an Xbox Series X at some point. Gears is one of my favourite franchises and I'm really enjoying Gears 5 this weekend (it's free!) but I've forgotten what happened because it's so long since I played Gears 2 (which is where Niles was introduced, I think).

That would be awesome, but as you say, unlikely to happen.

Don't count it out yet. The ray-tracing shadows will be something that Ubi could well use for next-gen Splinter Cell.

I can use my TV’s remote to switch my Xbox on and navigate menus, isn’t that HDMI-CEC?

No, that's the IR blaster feature of the Xbox. For HDMI-CEC, if you switch the Xbox on, it should automatically turn the TV on and change to the correct HDMI input. But it doesn't.

PS5 and Xbox Series X next gen gameplay for the new Assasina Creed will be shown in a few hours - that's what the rumours say

And I bet it won't look much different to AC Odyssey. I hope to be proven completely wrong though.

I hope not. With an SSD I expect it to boot far quicker than that.

To be fair, it's more likely you will be sticking it in standby mode and resuming instantly most often.

Surely a 10 second boot time is good from a cold start for s console with a SSD ?

Yeah considering it takes 60-90 seconds currently on the Xbone.

My pc on an old ssd boots in 3 seconds.

What, with Windows 95?

On “shutdown” the ram contents get dumped to the ssd, which gets restored on “boot”. I expect the Xbox series x to do the same thing.

Oh so you use hibernate. I’ve never tried it on Windows 10!
