XFX 780i SLI

Well quick test last night and got the q6600 Occt stable at 3.4 with mem at 945. CPU is at 1.38 v under load and mem is at its required 2.1v. Mem is also running at 1t.

Not bad for a quick 10 minute play.

Any updates J1nxy or Damfoose? :)

Yep new bios was released yesterday few little fixes but nothing much in it, The cooler I have is not helping for an overclock as it is only keeping the cores at 47C at idle @ standard which im not happy with under load I see 60 degres , Going to have to wait until next month to buy a new cooler, I spent 6 hours last night lapping the chip and the cooler to a nice flat finish all it did was bring the temps down 2 degres.

For thoes of you who are contemplating it I would not advise the Akasa Revo for overclocking or demanding chips its just not up to the job.

So next months shopping list comprises of New cooler ( Thermalright IFX-14 120 ) , new memory ( sli compatable this time ) a new XFX alpha dog 8800gts ( to match the one I already have ) and another Acer 24" TFT ( wife is buying that for me bday presse).

That mentioned cooler unless anyone has any better suggestions im not watercooling as the PC gets moved way to often.

J1nxy what cooler are yu using mate.

I'm watercooling using a Thermaltake LCS Kandalf case. Not the best in the world but keeps things around the low 50s @3.4. I'm running 4 x 1GB Basllistix @ 950. One thing I do notice is the MCP gets bloody hot, but its the south not the northbridge chip reporting.

BTW if EVGA release a BIOS for there board you can flash that onto the XFX as its the same board.

Thanks for info J1nxy. One thing I did notice about the XFX P02 bios was it has removed the boot up wallpaper and seems to have broken the Nvidia control pannel. Apparently my cpu is now running at and im pasting this straight from the output .

CPU Speed = -6685614750.749
CPU Multiplier = 26.000
FSB Frequency = 0
Memory Frequency = 0.000
AGP Frequency = 0

Were in the quantum era by the seems , suppose id best try a reinstall of the app.

I will look into everest later tonight, looks they have a tester just so I can see whats its like. As for the Nvid software reinstalled it and that seems to have fixed the problem.

Now at 3.6 and mem at 500 OCCT stable for over 3 hours before I got bored and went to bed. Thats the same cpu speed as my previous X38 but with less volts and the memory is now higher with less as well.

Looks like evga are bringing out a new version complete with 8 phase/solid state cap and hybrid water/air chipset cooling, could be one to look out for.

Also, as some are finding the stock fan a tad loud here's an alternative, apparently much quieter (and as effective) third post down.
